Deeply concerning experience. As an autistic pet owner, I explicitly informed this practice in advance of my communication needs and requested reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010 (email-only contact, as phone calls cause severe distress). This was repeatedly ignored. On the day of the appointment, I was left waiting 40 minutes past my scheduled time in an overwhelming waiting room while other patients were brought in and out. When discussing treatment, I was presented with an estimate of ~£1,600 for dental extractions (10 teeth). To put this in perspective, extensive dental work involving 14+ extractions elsewhere in the region typically comes in around £1,500—making £1,600 for 10 teeth extraordinarily inflated. Worse still, despite explaining that I am on a fixed income and had already secured charity vouchers, I was subjected to escalating financial pressure for upfront cash on the spot. The demanded deposit was initially set at £200, then pushed to £400, and finally escalated to £600 before I walked away. High-pressure sales tactics, shifting financial goalposts, and a total disregard for basic accessibility adjustments have no place in veterinary healthcare. If you are neurodivergent, on a budget, or looking for transparent, patient-first care, I strongly recommend seeking an independent practice elsewhere in Torbay

I would not recommend this veterinary practice based on my experience. Our dog developed a lump and we were advised that two separate procedures would be needed to investigate it. We questioned why this could not be completed as a single procedure, but as our priority was ensuring our dog received the care needed, we followed the advice provided by the vets. We also had several discussions regarding the insurance claim. The practice suggested that the invoices could be consolidated into a single claim and advised that they would liaise with our insurance company to facilitate this. Our insurance company subsequently agreed to and processed the claim on that basis. Unfortunately, the practice failed to follow through with what had originally been proposed. Instead, we have spent months trying to resolve the issue, receiving little or no communication for long periods before another invoice would suddenly be issued. Each time, it seemed there had been no meaningful investigation into the history of the claim or the information already provided. As a result of the practice's poor administration and lack of ownership of the problem, we have been left significantly out of pocket and required to pay additional sums that we do not believe should have arisen in the first place. The most frustrating aspect is that the insurance company did exactly what the practice initially suggested, yet the practice's own administrative failings have ultimately cost us money. While the clinical treatment may have been satisfactory, the customer service, communication and administration have been extremely disappointing. For such an expensive service, I would expect far better organisation and accountability. Sadly, based on this experience, I would not recommend this practice and will be considering moving elsewhere in the future.

Popped in whilst on holiday and my dog had damaged his dew claw. They were very helpful and sorted out all the bandages we would need to keep it protected. Staff were very friendly, great service.

I had the awful experience of having my beloved cat put to sleep and can’t speak highly enough of the care and compassion we received from Alex the vet at Silverton. My cat was 17 years old and nothing more could be done for him, but Alex was sympathetic and caring through the process. I will always be grateful.
