Nipped in after work as my little Yorkshire terrier was suffering with muscle and joint issues. Been at this vet before and they were great but this was just for information and advice. Spoke to a wonderful woman called Kate. Despite it being late in the day she spent time with me and advised on what was available to me. Her enthusiasm and knowledge was second to none. My dog is my life and she was simply amazing. Thanks Katie.

Took our 5 month old puppy in for a new harness as had out grown the one they had. I can only describe the service by the member of staff as absolutely awful. Having made no attempt whatsoever to engage with our puppy she was screeching and flailing her arms around then proceeded to try to remove them from where the harnesses were stating he had snarled at her. Our puppy thought with the flailing of arms that she was playing and tried playing back at no point did they snarl at her as she inferred they did. She went on to inform me their harness was too small (the reason we had gone in the first place!). She couldn’t undo the harness stating “this is a ridiculous one” even when I point out it had a safety locking on it (one that they sell and she didn’t appear to know this). We were then moved away from the area where the harnesses were and she proceeded to say put him on the counter whilst still talking extremely loudly and in a screechy voice and still flailing her arms around. She made an accusation he had snarled at her again and went on to say he was a “dangerous dog And I need to get him a harness online and a mussel ” I got our puppy returned the item we needed to return and the lovely woman on checkout asked if I was ok. Explaining all the above she came round and engaged with our puppy who made a lots of fuss of her. I left the store and rang in to speak to a manager. Whilst they listened I don’t feel my concerns regarding the member of staff were fully listened to or dealt with. A member of the public who had witnessed this asked if I and my puppy were ok when we left as they had witnessed some of the behaviour of this member of staff towards us. Later that day we went to a small pet shop recommended by a friend who tried several harnesses on our puppy, the lady there was kind, caring and interacted with our puppy to gain his confidence. We purchased from them as an excellent dog friendly experience and knew what they were talking about. Won’t be going back to pets at home chesterfield the service we received was diabolical both towards me and our puppy.
