I’ve been shopping at this store for eight months, but after my experience with the assistant manager, I won’t be returning.
From the moment I entered, I felt I was being watched and given disapproving looks. When I asked for assistance finding cat food containing beef, the assistant manager walked away without helping or arranging for another member of staff to assist. I ended up purchasing my usual products rather than exploring additional options.
After completing my shopping, I waited briefly inside for a lift. Despite the store still being open, the assistant manager approached me, accused me of “taking the mick” and “being unfair to members of staff” for spending 30 minutes there and asked me to wait outside in the pitch black and cold. For reference, I have never been told to leave a store before.
Her manner throughout was patronising and dismissive. While I was explaining why I found her approach upsetting, she even turned her attention towards a wall midway through our conversation. I felt there was a complete lack of empathy or willingness to listen.
Even after being informed that I had left visibly upset, she made no attempt to speak to me or apologise.
I could have ordered everything online for home delivery, but chose to visit the store in person. It’s disappointing that an otherwise positive eight-month experience has ended because of such poor customer service from management.
The other staff have always been lovely, and I was actually introduced to the shop by a member of staff who happens to be my friend and has been helping me for months choose my cat’s food when I do choose to go into the store instead of purchasing items online. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about this experience.
