  I took my dog here for 11am till 1pm. When I arrived i waited for around 10 minutes till the girl was ready, and when she was I spent an additional 10/15 minutes explaining what I would like done with my dog. I had expressed that I want him all one length and that the previous time I had brought him here that they had shaved his whole body and left his tail VERY long and I said I did not want this to happen again. When I returned at 1pm, I had to wait again which is fine but while I was waiting I was able to see through the glass and imagine to my surprise the groomer had done exactly what I told her not to do. I understand if the coat needs shaved down but when I was looking at him his tail was shaved down half way and the end was left bushy. Which I had expressed I did not want to happen. His head was left long as well. When she came out I asked her to take him back in and fix him, to which she did. She shaved his tail then came back out. I had also noticed that the girl wasn’t strong enough to lift my dog onto the table so she dragged him by his collar and lightly lifted his legs, I didn’t mention this at the time because I was fed up with the service and knew I was going to be met back with attitude. When she came back out, I said to her his head is very long compared to the rest of his body. She took him in again and only shaved the top of his head and left his ears. I still wasn’t happy but I just decided to express that I’m not happy and left, to save my dog more stress. I paid £65 for this groom. There was uneven patches everywhere on his body, his hygiene cut was not finished, his face had extremely long bits and very short bits. There was cuts in his inner thigh. And his head harness had seemed to have been nicked with clippers or scissors. I rang back when I had noticed these things and they asked me to come back with my dog. They blamed the harness on my dog chewing this on the table to which I responded with why would he have the chance to? Why wasn’t the harness taken off him?. No apology, no compensation at all. The attitude was embarrassing for so called professionals. They blamed everything that happened on my dogs behaviour calling him aggressive to other dogs, never once has my dog been aggressive to anything or anyone. Infact when my dog had been attacked on walks he still wants the be that dogs friend. My dog was extremely over stimulated, obviously having gone through this twice in one day. The senior groomer took him back in and fixed his cut but still no apology and no compensation to the damage. We won’t be back for any services that pets at home offers due to this.   Very disappointed with our experience at the Groom Room in Pets at Home Newtownabbey. Our dog came back from his groom with a cut, his harness damaged, and the overall quality of the groom was poor. While I understand that minor nicks can occasionally happen, this combined with the condition he was returned in was not acceptable. We were asked to come back to discuss it, but instead of taking responsibility, the situation was blamed on our dog’s behaviour. There was no apology offered, no accountability taken, and no effort to replace the damaged harness or resolve the issue. To make matters worse, staff spoke over my partner during the conversation and their attitude came across as dismissive and unprofessional. Overall, a very poor experience and not the level of care or service we expected. We won’t be returning.

  The staff whether inexperienced or uncaring, especially the manager Lauren, said the cut was fine. Which it was NOT. I personally will not be coming back as it just brings stress for both myself and my dog
