When I took my cat here for urgent care I was very satisfied with the quality of care he received, as well as with the quality of the service and polite attitude of the staff. The pricing seemed very reasonable, and at no point did anyone try to upsell me on something I wasn't sure if I needed or not.

Unprofessional. The doctor was talking to the other patient and never showed up to see us on time, we were punctual and showed up on time. she wasted my time, was not respectful of my time I had to reschedule and drive my cat back-and-forth more than once that is unacceptable and I will not recommend this place to anybody.

After ~7 years with Cumberland Animal Clinic, I’ve unfortunately decided to leave. Since the recent team changes, customer service has noticeably declined. I experienced multiple miscommunications over a simple medication order — being told different things between the vet and the receptionist — and after 5 days of back and forth, I was told by James the receptionist , that my order would be ready in an hour. When I arrived, James casually mentioned he’d forgotten to put it in, without any apology or accountability. It’s disappointing to see such a shift in a clinic I once trusted, but due to the decline in service and lack of professionalism, I’ll have to move to a new vet.

The front desk people are not welcoming or kind- I checked in and they just asked who I was here for- no hello, smile, or anything. While I was in my appointment, the doctor was wonderful and so was the technician, but I received a very difficult diagnosis. While I was waiting for my pet to be finished, I checked out with the front desk, then went back to the room and was upset. I could hear very loud music in the room, which was not what I needed in a time like this. When I was leaving with my pet I was visibly upset and made direct eye contact with the front desk. Who just looked at me, he did not say goodbye, are you okay, can I help you with your animals, again nothing. Both the girl and guy that were at the front desk, I had never seen before, in the past I have had all wonderful experiences with the front desk, so this was a shock. These people lacked empathy, kindness, warmth, human decency. I thought for a long time about whether to write this review or not but hope that management looks at this and does something. I am not interested in a phone call or anything else, I plan to take my pet elsewhere. Somewhere that I will be treated with empathy during a difficult time. I truly hope this clinic can turn it around, something is not right here.

My heart hurts writing this because I have trusted Cumberland Animal Clinic with my dog’s life for seven years. I have spent thousands of dollars here over the years, brought her in for yearly cleanings, check-ups, and anything she ever needed. This clinic used to feel like family — but the level of care has gone downhill, and my most recent experience has left me devastated. My dog has a known seizure history. I was once told by a vet here that if she ever needed seizure medication, it would be a major, lifelong decision. I trusted that. I trusted their judgment. I let her know they weren’t frequent enough for me to put her on a medication, and I was going to avoid that route for now. But after her recent $1,300 dental procedure — where she also had teeth removed for the first time — a different doctor prescribed gabapentin without reviewing her seizure history or warning me about neurological risks. I had no idea this could affect her, and after stopping the medication, she experienced withdrawals and went on to have multiple seizures within weeks. Before this, she would only have one maybe once a year. When I brought her back to ask for help, the doctor wouldn’t even speak to me. I was brushed off, sent an assistant, and told, “Just give it a couple days.” I felt dismissed, unheard, and uncared for — after all the years and money I have poured into this clinic, seven to be exact. To make it worse, last year I asked for her usual annual dental cleaning and was told she didn’t need it — only for her to now lose 5 teeth. That delay led to more pain, more cost, and more trauma for my dog. I trusted this clinic. I was loyal for years. And now my dog is facing lifelong seizure medication because her history was ignored and brushed aside. I never thought I would leave a review like this, but I want other pet owners to be aware and to listen to their instincts. I truly hope this clinic finds its way back to the standard of care it once had.
