I’ve usually had very positive experiences with Banfield. During my phone conversations and in-office visits, the team and doctors have always been pleasant, patient, and informative. They took the time to educate me on my new dog’s needs, especially since I wasn’t very familiar with his breed.
Recently, however, I had a disappointing experience that left me frustrated and concerned. I received several messages about a past-due checkup and comprehensive exam, so despite my hectic work schedule, I scheduled an appointment for my dog for tomorrow at 11 AM and confirmed it.
Shortly after, I received calls from a representative named Vania (or Vanja) asking me to reschedule for another 30 days because “resources weren’t available.” When I asked why I had been receiving so many reminders if that was the case, her responses were dismissive — saying she didn’t know, that I was “reading too deep into the messages,” and that keeping my appointment would “just make my dog anxious for no reason.”
When I continued to ask for clarification, she cut me off, said she was “not doing this with me,” mentioned she had people waiting in the lobby, and abruptly told me she would pass my information to her manager. Her attitude was rude, impatient, and completely unprofessional — especially for someone working in customer service.
I genuinely value the care my dog has received from the doctors in the past, but this type of customer service is unacceptable. I will be waiting to hear from a manager to discuss my concerns, explore other Banfield locations, and possibly cancel my current plan. It’s too costly — both financially and emotionally — to deal with a representative who treats pet owners with such disregard when they’re simply seeking clarity.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
