No compassion, un professional, and how to make extra $$ off every patient. . Is what this review will reveal from my experience with the ALL new staff and the new Dr at blanchard woods animal hospital The only relevant reviews will be from the last couple of months. Anything before that are reviews for DR. Gaffigan. Who sold the practice a couple of months ago. ( nov? 2025) I had no clue there would be a new doctor until l was there for my dog’s scheduled appointment. The woman who answered the phone only said Kristen (receptionist) was off the day i made the appointment. I come in and the whole entire staff was gone but 2 staff members. And there was ALOT of staff. I needed heart worm med for my dog. And they no longer carry what i had been using. So i had to make apt for the 1 yr injection. I get a reminder text for my dogs up coming apt for yearly heart worm injection, we have been out of town for Christmas just getting back, my dog started scratching at her ear last night, my husband suggested at her apt on Thursday to get the new vet to look at her, all at once, not make multiple trips its an itchy ear. Dr. Gaffigan would have taken a quick look while my dog was in the back just to make sure its nothing serious. Confirmation text; reads this apt is only for injection if you need to see the dr, make a separate apt. So i call the office. The new receptionist i spoke with is snarky, clearly not an animal lover, and not the person i would want answering my new office of established patients who have only dealt with the old compassionate dr gaffigan staff for more than 10 years. I tell her I was unaware until reading my confirmation message that, well, first off she was not even seeing the doctor and i thought she would be seeing the vet i wanted her ear to get looked at. Nope.. Make another apt, which is extremely inconvenient to leave for a few hours and come back. Or take my dog home who could be having a real problem and lose her hearing. To come back another day all together. This 1 yr shot for heart worm is something new for me, i have only had small dogs 8lbs and smaller my whole life. I worry about over dosing etc. so i wanted the first injection to be administered and measured out by the vet for the first time so if any side effects happen i would not have to worry it was due to the injection. To be rude bc you are not use to the “new” way you were thrown into or just one time due to this “new” rule you couldn't get the vet to just look at it real quick while she was in the back. Feels extremely un compassionate, and only all about making the extra cash. Which i have no problem dishing out thousands of dollars for my animals, i have all the receipts to back that of years of doing business with previous dr. and her corresponding specialists we were seeing. I would have even paid the extra appointment fee and separate fees to get her ear looked at. But to not even pretend to want to accommodate me with a one time “not knowing the new rules”, leaves me with, I will get the injection only to keep my dog safe, but I will be leaving this practice and going to one that i will enjoy spending hundreds of dollars a visit just to feel my dog is as important to the doctor and the staff as she is to me.

Dr. Norman is amazing veterinarian. I’ve followed her from Highland hospital to dogwood park and now here. She’s honest and a very knowledgeable veterinarian. She has personally called me about test results and concerns I’ve called about. I trust her with my dogs and value her suggestions.

Dr Norman and her staff are absolutely incredible. They do an excellent job of taking care of our 2 dogs and 1 cat. I wouldn’t trust our furry children’s care to anyone else. We’re so thankful to have them.

My puppies go here! Nice folks, but it is REALLY hard to get in to see the doctor because they are so popular.
