I want to start out by saying the office staff and techs we encountered here were great, for the most part. However, Dr. Duncan was incredibly irresponsible, rude, and unprofessional. Our medium-large dog got into a VERY small amount of rat poison. We knew it was still an emergency, so we got there within an hour of ingestion. Our dog was there for about 2.5 hours, and we had only heard good news throughout his visit - he had thrown it up, they had early enough intervention that he’d likely be fine, it was such a small amount, etc. When we were getting discharged, Dr. Duncan spent 15 minutes explaining everything they did and how everything went well with his treatments. Then, she ends it with “so, anyway, it’s about 50/50.” I said “what’s 50/50?!”, and she casually responded “his chance of making it.” I was and still am appalled by the way she decided to communicate this. It is unacceptable. She also blatantly lied to us, saying he threw up “huge chunks of rat poison,” when we saw exactly how much he ingested, and there was no other rat poison he could’ve gotten into. He got less than a gram, and it was in granules, not “huge chunks.” Lastly, she didn’t counsel us on anything except to bring him back if he was bleeding. Didn’t say a word about his high-dose vitamin K prescription or its risks, or tell us that he needs to not play rough or do anything that could increase his chances of bruising/bleeding (which is common sense to most, but a doctor is still obligated to say it). They also sent us out the door with his IV catheter still in. She’s going to end up losing her license if she keeps up this level of negligence and dishonesty, and quite frankly I think that would be in the best interest of this hospital and its patients.

12.16.2025 on a Tuesday •I dropped off my cat at 7AM, for a hard golf ball lump in his abdomen. I was scared it could be a urinary blockage. •Vet doesn’t come in till 9AM which is understandable. •Around 11:59AM they finally call me back saying it could be a tumor but they need to run an XRAY. •1:50PM I get a call back being notified that it was not a tumor. He has a hernia and his intestines and bladder have fallen out of his abdomen. His bladder could rupture ANY moment and could cause him to die. He needs emergency surgery ASAP. •They were too busy to do same day surgery. •I head that way. Vet said they would make referral calls and see who could get him in for a surgery ASAP. •I arrived around 3PM. They are rushing me out the door to head straight to Auburn, Alabama (yes the university). •I pay the $500 vet bill at CCAH. •I asked 3 different times, do I need to go straight there? they said yes it’s an emergency surgery go straight there. •So i leave from there and drive 2 hours OUT OF STATE to the Auburn student emergency vet clinic. •I arrive, and take my cat inside and start talking with the students and staff for his surgery. •An hour goes by, I ask when will he have his surgery? THEY DONT KNOW. •They said they don’t know if they could get it done Wednesday, Thursday OR Friday!! and they said it would be 4-5 THOUSAND DOLLARS not including all the potential extra over night hospital stay. They recommended finding a local vet to do the surgery to save money. •So why the hell would they send me out of state if he didn’t have a for sure EMERGENCY surgery booked? -i live in Villa Rica GA.- •I spoke with a vet clinic in Rome GEORGIA who said if I could get my cat to their clinic by 8AM Wednesday they most likely could get it done so his bladder doesn’t have a higher chance of rupturing. •I tell Auburn to have my cat ready for pick up at 3:30AM (Alabama time). I had to book a hotel for overnight which is an additional $160 not including food or overnight items i needed from walmart. Date: 12.17.2025 •I check him out at 3:40AM and pay his $780 BILL. i spent over 1k FOR NO REASON. •I have to do a 2 hour drive home so my boyfriend can drive the additional hour and thirty to Rome Ga because I am exhausted. * I arrive home around 6AM & we headed up to Rome. •We get my cat there on time for the 8:00AM drop off in Rome Ga. They check all of the paperwork I had from 2 different clinics to see what they needed to do for my cat. •Around 12PM they start prepping him for surgery. They finished his surgery close to 1PM. •His bill with 3 days hospitalized with his surgery, ultrasound, his medicine, scar tissue removal, etc. Total is $1,875. I almost spent that amount on Tuesday for no reason. I have officially wrote Carroll County Animal Hospital off. I do not want your apology. Take what you will from this post. I went here for 12 years with my cat. Never again.

They cared for my 10 year old baby with so much warmth and listened to my worries. She was feeling really nervous but moma wasn't. I will now only carry her there. The staff was great and they were warm towards the other animals there also. Great place and great people. Thank you so much for what you did. She feels so much better this morning
