I had a horrible experience with an ER vet, Dogwood ER. They were pushing me to euthanize my dog the same day that they gave me a diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. I was feeling very pressured so I called my usual vet, Austell Banfield, and asked them for a second opinion. They were very nice and told me I didn’t need to rush the euthanasia. They scheduled an appointment for the next day and when I got there my dog had drastically improved and Banfield agreed that euthanasia was not needed. I appreciated the Banfield staff and the vet who helped my dog. They were so nice and understanding. No one should pressure you into euthanizing your dog. The Banfield staff was top notch. I’m holding my dog right now and I give credit to Banfield for helping to make sure she’s still here.

store is always short staffed. i don’t know if they need new hires, calling out, or leaving early but it puts a bad look on management. seems like it’s always one person upfront doing all the work.

Was gonna leave it as handled but I keep getting calls even though I switched to the acworth location My cat was prescribed gabapentin and having adverse reactions to it including loosing complete control of his bladder and soaking his carrier with urine. My cat was prescribed gabapentin for his anxiety so they made it a point to schedule him for early drop off so hes "in and out" which i often didnt get told he was ready for pick up untill 2 in the afternoon so from 8 am untill 2 pm he sad scared high and soaked in his own urine. I BEGGED he be seen without the gabapentin and with in room appointment THEY SAID NO. I DEMANDED it and they said they would take him during drop of then not see him and have to RESCHEDULE UNTILL I GAVE HIM A MEDICINE THAT MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGING HIS KIDNEYS. One time I even picked him up from a dental cleaning with his 2 front legs shaved and bruised horribly (some bruising is expected but not to the extent he was bruised) I take him to acworth now. His kidneys are healthy again. He does not take the gabapentin. The doctors and nurses ALL see him IN ROOM where DOES NOT BITE OR SCRATCH and they even let him freely roam the room to see if he will react (ive told them about austel and they are stunned) I have seen them give him his shots I have seen them do blood draw I have seen them stick that stick thing up his butt and not once did he ever act in aggression the most ive even seen was a hiss and escape attempt If you have a cat dont take them to austell

Staff was very nice and polite and drop off was staged nicely. Never a fan of the drop-off situation but it was nice to be put into a room for a bit before for intake. Thank y’all for that! However, flea and tick medicine was $50 cheaper on the Banfield online shop than in the office (with the wellness plan discount for both), so recommend researching that before purchasing in store, especially if you have multiple pets and can wait for shipping. They were willing to discuss return/price matching and added a note but were unsure when the person who could process the transaction would be back in the office. Also, performed an elective procedure without consent or notification (or at least it’s on the receipt). I’m assuming and hoping it was necessary but also a heads up prior to that would be decent as it kind of feels violating.
