Called Banfield to compare pricing to another local veterinary hospital. Was told a spay was $460 (approximately - don't remember the exact number). Made an appointment for 9:30 this morning. Arrived and found they could not honor the appointment. Wednesday mornings are reserved for surgery and there was a dog under anesthesia being monitored. I wasn't pleased as I generally don't make appointments before 10 a.m., but took this appointment as I wanted to have my dog spayed as soon as I could. When I was annoyed, I was told they would do some of the work in the middle of Petsmart and then the vet could see my dog in an exam room - but I wasn't allowed to come in. I agreed. Then I received the quote for doing the spay. Apparently, the $460 applies ONLY to dogs under 6 months. However, the person I had spoken to on the phone had all the appropriate information (including my dog's date of birth) and quoted the $460 price. My dog is 8 months (the call was made 3 weeks ago - so she was still over 7 months). When the vet came out with a number closer to $800, I was shocked. I told them what I had been quoted over the phone. I was told that was the under 6 months price. I also told them I run a local business. If we quote a price, we stand by it - even if we lose money. I said I was unhappy with the whole service - first being told I didn't have an appointment (but they had left me vm's which I don't have), then almost doubling the price of what I was originally quoted on the phone, and THEN wanting to charge me $72 for today's visit, anyway! Pay attention - they are not above baiting and switching.

I had no problems with the vet or staff for routine exams and shots for my dog. They do try to push their Wellness plans when there and with phone calls but just ignore the offer.

The staff at our Banfield are very concerned about Hunter’s health and give him the best care. He is always willing to go get his checkups. Hunter has separation anxiety, therefore we cannot have normal drop off. The hospital staff works with us to make sure he receives the proper care.
