I’ve been taking my dog to Banfield Pet Hospital since she was born and have visited multiple locations from Naples to Sarasota. Unfortunately, the experience at this specific location was by far the worst.
From the moment I arrived—only seven minutes late—I was met with unnecessary attitude and rudeness from an older staff member who showed zero patience or customer service skills. Instead of being understanding or professional, I was spoken to disrespectfully and given attitude throughout the interaction.
I was also judged and given looks because my dog is not currently on heartworm medication, which felt completely inappropriate and unprofessional. To make matters worse, I was told I needed to “arrange my travel time better” to make appointments on time—an unacceptable way to speak to a client.
Due to this treatment, I turned around and left. My dog will not be having surgery at this location, and we will not be returning. I would rather drive over an hour to a different Banfield than ever come back here again.
Horrible customer service. No thank you

Waited over one hour to be seen for a “drop off”! Three people in line ahead of me. One just wanted to “pay his bill”! Received a call from the Vet Female Doctor pressuring me to go with recommendations for drugs on blood issue and wanted to do urine tests, have me come back because she did not have a tool she needed with her to check animal’s urine. I said I just brought my dog Lucy in for a bacterial infection. I thought “what the heck”! I asked her several questions about what she was doing and asked her about statistics about procedures and she said she did not have time to deal with any statistics! Do you want it done or not she said. Turns out she had the wrong owner for another dog name Lucy!!!! So much for placing name collars around the dog’s neck for ID purposes. You need to get help in the front of the office and better people in the back to service our animals. The folks that assist the doctors are not trained properly either. I saw one assistant at the beginning of the week who received information from the doctor on a wellness check and discovered “the ear infection”. Then when I followed up a couple of days later a different assistant came in just to talk about my long wait and did not even check the chart and why I was there. I informed her to bring her up to date!! This facility is very, very unprofessional. I have had a business for over 50 years, I would not have lasted 3 months with discrepancies like this business. These are people’s pets, a family member.
Frequently Asked Questions About Banfield Pet Hospital
Does Banfield provide emergency care services?
No, but you can call us during hospital hours for urgent care advice. Depending on the situation, we can help provide a referral for urgent care, specialty providers, or to an emergency hospital. During non-hospital hours, please contact your local emergency hospital.
Can I get veterinary care online?
To help pets and their people stay healthy, Banfield clients who have Optimum Wellness Plans® can get remote general pet care advice and triage support directly from a veterinarian 24/7 through Vet Chat™ on the Banfield app.
What preventive pet health care services does Banfield offer?
We believe that preventive care is the most effective way to keep your pet healthy throughout all stages of life. Our pet hospitals offer many preventive care treatments, including:
• Vaccinations
• Dental Care
• Parasite Control
• Nutritional Counseling
• Behavioral Counseling
• Comprehensive Examinations
What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
• Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
