Banfield lost a confirmed follow-up appointment for my dog after an emergency IVDD diagnosis and then refused to provide any in-room doctor care. (Read more below.)
My 13-year-old dog was diagnosed at an emergency hospital with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) after being in severe pain and neurological distress. This is a serious spinal condition that requires careful follow-up and ongoing medical management. I scheduled an in-room appointment with Banfield for 8:30 AM, received a confirmation email, and arrived on time specifically to review her ER records, X-rays, medications, and recovery plan with a veterinarian.
When I arrived, I was told that my confirmed appointment “did not exist” in their system. The only option offered was a drop-off, which was completely inappropriate for a neurological case where direct communication with a doctor is essential. I was then told the next available in-room appointment would not be for more than a week.
Because Banfield could not honor a confirmed appointment or provide any physician communication after losing it, I was forced to call the emergency hospital that treated her just to obtain medication refills and guidance. The ER was able to help immediately — which highlights how unacceptable this situation was.
This was not a routine visit. This was medically necessary follow-up after a spinal emergency. Losing a confirmed appointment and offering no meaningful alternative is dangerous, not just inconvenient.
If your pet has a serious or time-sensitive condition, I would not trust this location to provide reliable care or continuity.

I am writing this review because of a very serious and stressful experience I had with Banfield that almost prevented my dogs from returning to the United States.
I took my dogs from the U.S. to Colombia, and before traveling I went to Banfield to request the required health certificate. I was very clear that this certificate needed to include both the exit AND the re-entry rabies documentation so my dogs could return to the United States. Banfield knew this from the beginning I told Doctor Joy and team.
However, they only provided the exit certificate, not the re-entry rabies certificate. At no point that day did anyone tell me that my dogs supposedly could not receive that certificate because their rabies vaccines were administered at another veterinary clinic. This was never explained to me before I paid for the service.
I only found out about this issue later, when I went back to the doctor’s counter and was told that was the reason. By that time, my dogs were already abroad. As a result of Banfield’s negligence and lack of transparency, my dogs were almost denied entry back into the United States from Colombia, which caused me extreme stress and fear.
To make matters worse, I called Banfield on December 26 seeking urgent help and solutions, and no one answered kindly or offered any real assistance to help me bring my dogs back to the U.S.
If Banfield cannot issue rabies certificates for dogs vaccinated elsewhere, they should have told me that clearly on the day of my visit, before charging me. Failing to do so is taking advantage of a client, is completely unprofessional, and is not being honest or transparent. Had they told me the truth, I would have gone to another veterinarian immediately.
This experience showed a serious lack of responsibility, communication, and ethics. When it comes to international travel and pets’ lives, mistakes like this are unacceptable.
I would not recommend Banfield to anyone who needs accurate documentation or trustworthy guidance—especially for international travel.

I called this morning and asked if a doctor can see my dog because she has chocked this morning and I wanted to make sure that everything was OK with her somebody name Bridget told me to bring her at 1 PM. I got there at 1:05. Nobody was in the front. There was five other people waiting so when I finally came to my turn the lady in the front told me that my appointment had passed because it had been more than 30 minutes even though I had been waiting there, it’s very unprofessional very rude and they don’t care about other peoples time!

Seems that scheduling is the tune of the music, scheduled a week in advance for an appointment, they call me less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment to notify me I would have to drop my puppy off for 4 hours like it’s some kind of twisted daycare, I have a French bulldog puppy and I will be damned if I leave my baby alone with other dogs and people I don’t know, I am recovering from a broken leg so trying to even make arrangements for this appointment was a miracle, I signed up for the wellness package, I’m having 2nd thoughts, it is deplorable that yall are operating like this, like I would leave my puppy that costs as much as a car who is just 4 months old alone with other dogs whom I do not know their health history or vaccination status or temperament? I am beyond pissed

If Zero stars existed you would deserve them!
Banfield Midtown has been the worst veterinary experience I’ve ever had. From the front desk staff « Diedrich Ramirez » to the veterinarian’s lack of follow-through « Dr Mejias », this clinic showed a complete lack of professionalism and compassion.
I brought my dog in for a consultation regarding a skin condition and paid $300 which is already overpriced , I was given a 15 ml topical antibiotic and told he would be fine after 10 days. The medication ran out in less than 5 days, and the irritation worsened and spread. I called repeatedly to request a refill or speak with the vet and was met with constant excuses: she was with another patient, in surgery, on break, would call back, and eventually that she was on vacation for a week.
When I asked if another veterinarian could help with the refill, I was told they “couldn’t” because it would put their medical license at risk.
After waiting for the vet to return, I was promised a callback or refill to be sent but that never happened.
Instead, I was told she could only help if I booked a same-day appointment and paid for another visit, so suddenly she was available if more money was involved.
During the calling process, Dietrich Ramirez repeatedly put me on hold for 15–20 minutes and provided no assistance. When I went to the clinic in person, his behavior was condescending, rude, and argumentativei couldn’t believe myself!
He showed no empathy or professionalism while handling a concerned pet owner and a sick animal, and he told me I have to wait until the clinic is about to close and all appointments are completed before he can get me the help I needed!
Only after another female front desk employee intervened and inquired what was I looking form, she walked to the back and returned with the refill in under two minutes. The issue I had was never complicated or demanding, it simply required someone willing to care, but my dog had to suffer a week longer due the clinic ‘s lack of compassion, accountability, and basic customer service training. My dog will never receive care at any Banfield location again. He is due for upcoming vaccinations, and we will be taking our business elsewhere.
And Diedrich you deserve to be fired
