The front desk lady here is so rude. They can never get my dogs in, even for an emergency. Will be cancelling Banfield plan.

I had an appointment for my dog, Mora, at 4:30 PM. I called ahead to let them know I was running about 5–6 minutes late and was told it was okay as long as I arrived by 4:35. I arrived at 4:36 and checked in immediately, confirming I was there for the 4:30 appointment.
I explained multiple times that my time was very limited and that I needed to leave before 5:00 PM to pick up my children from school. I requested a quick follow-up visit, since this was just to check on Mora after her last appointment and to purchase her medication.
I was placed in a room and repeatedly reassured that a doctor would see me soon. However, I waited over 20 minutes without anyone coming in. During that time, I could hear staff and doctors in the back chatting and laughing, while no one attended to my appointment. There were no other patients in the room area.
At 5:01 PM, I had no choice but to leave. I told the staff not to get the doctor anymore because I could not stay, and asked only to be sold the medication and reschedule. This situation is especially frustrating because this has happened before, where visits are marked in the system as “completed” even when Mora was not actually seen.
I completely understand that veterinary offices get busy, but when appointments are scheduled, clients’ time should be respected—especially when we clearly communicate constraints. Unfortunately, this office repeatedly fails at that, and it makes it very difficult to trust their scheduling and follow-through.

This has been a completely awful experience.
My dog has visible head swelling, which is clearly an urgent medical issue. I had an appointment scheduled today at 10:00 a.m. Yesterday, Banfield called me to reschedule because the doctor supposedly wouldn’t be available. I adjusted my entire schedule and moved the appointment to 11:00 a.m. as they suggested.
I arrived on time for the 11:00 a.m. appointment and was then made to wait 40 minutes, only for staff to tell me that the doctor at this location was in surgeries and my dog would not be seen at all today.
So let me be clear:
They gave me an appointment, moved it themselves, had me come in, made me wait, and then told me they couldn’t see my dog.
At that point, they told me to drive to another location 30 minutes away, which is completely unrealistic when my entire day was already planned around the appointment they scheduled. If I had known this earlier, I would have taken my dog to another veterinarian where she would have actually received care.
I am paying $60 a month for a wellness plan, and yet when my dog actually needs medical attention, Banfield shows zero consideration for my time, my schedule, or my dog’s health. Emergencies should be handled with urgency and transparency—not poor communication and wasted time.
This experience cost me time, money, and emotional energy, and worst of all, my dog still did not receive the care she needs. Completely unacceptable.

Awful customer service. Aren’t these people supposed to be professionals? I don’t understand why employees think it’s acceptable to shrug or make faces when a client is asking questions or voicing concerns. This is supposed to be a helpful, reassuring experience for both pets and their owners.
On Jan 23rd around 2:15PM, I had a really rude interaction with a woman who wasn’t even the veterinarian. She sat at her desk listing off a bunch of tests and expensive procedures I “needed” to do without ever seeing my cat or even knowing what he looked like. She was so unhelpful, uninterested...it just left me with such a bad feeling. Every time I asked a question, she shrugged or looked at me like I was stupid.
I actually care about my pet, and I don’t appreciate a money-grabbing business taking advantage of that worry and vulnerability. Completely unprofessional experience. I’ll be taking my money elsewhere.
*****Edit (the very next day): I went to Adam’s Veterinary Clinic on 79th Street, and the difference was night and day. It’s honestly amazing how far basic compassion and professionalism can go.
Dr. Lexy was absolutely amazing! She actually came into the room, met my cat Asher, listened to my concerns, and answered all of my questions without rushing or talking down to me. She was polite, funny, and it was enlightening to understand my cats condition. Instead of immediately pushing thousands of dollars in tests, she explained what might be going on and walked me through a process of elimination.
I walked out paying under $200 and feeling informed and reassured instead of stressed and taken advantage of. If you want actual compassion and to spend way less money, go here instead.
