I’m really disappointed with my experience at Banfield Pet Hospital. Earlier this week, I came in to schedule my dog’s spay surgery and was told she first needed an appointment with one of their veterinarians to be evaluated before the surgery could be scheduled. So today’s appointment was simply to have her seen by a doctor and determine if she was ready for the procedure or if we needed to wait. When I arrived, I waited about 45 minutes before anyone properly acknowledged us or gave an update. The one bright spot of the visit was the gentleman at the front desk who checked us in, he was kind, patient, professional, and genuinely helpful. He was the only reason the experience wasn’t a complete disappointment. Unfortunately, the technician who eventually came to speak with us was extremely rude and unfriendly. She made us feel like we were bothering her instead of clients with a scheduled appointment. Rather than helping, she kept creating obstacles, focusing on excuses, and suggesting we go to other Banfield locations, which made no sense considering this is the closest location to me and we already had an appointment scheduled here. The interaction became so uncomfortable and unprofessional that we ended up leaving without my dog ever being seen by the veterinarian. After the way this visit was handled, I would not feel comfortable leaving my dog there for surgery or future care. Pets deserve compassionate treatment, and owners deserve respect and clear communication.

Our cat passed away at home overnight. I went into Banfield this morning as my regular vet is closed on Wednesdays. I was treated by Heather who was professional, caring and compassionate.

I brought my dog in at 11 am on Sunday as a drop off to take care of some worsening hot spots he’s had the last few days. I didn’t hear from them until 3 pm to give me a potential treatment plan but he still needed to see the vet. It was 4:30 pm when my partner and I decided to show up to banfield since they were supposed to close at 5 pm and we hadn’t been called yet to pick him up. Tell me why we had to ask THREE times for an update on our dog and we were only met with “give us 5 more minutes” followed by “he should be done in 20 minutes” up until 7 pm when they JUST started taking care of him. They kept him in a cage ALL DAY with no food, water, no bathroom breaks and never ONCE apologized nor acknowledged us sitting there waiting. We watched people that came in after us leave before us and we were the last ones to leave at 7:30 pm. Complete and utter negligence on their behalf. I left there completely frustrated and infuriated and let my partner handle talking to the incompetent employees there before I blew a fuse on them. For as much as I pay monthly for my dog’s wellness plan, you would think they would take better care of the animals, but they quite frankly don’t care.

If I could give them a zero out of five, I would. We had an appointment set for 10:30AM this past weekend. For context, our cat is a rescue who is very fearful of the carrier and is generally a really anxious cat who has made several strides in getting comfortable with us, but is still very anxious and fearful at times. We managed to get him inside the carrier for his appointment for his rabies vaccine and advised the nurse that he may be aggressive and agitated prior to handling him off and giving them some context of his behavior, what to expect, and our own experience of his behaviors. They acknowledged the situation and took him with no concerns or questions. I hear nothing from the office in regards to status until I have to initiate a call at 4:40PM (20 mins before they close btw). They inform me then that he’s ready for pick up and to come by to grab him. We proceed to wait till 6:30 inside the office to then be told by a nurse that this Banfield had our cat in his carrier since 10AM with no access to food, water or a litter because they could not get him out of the carrier after multiple attempts. While I understand every office may not have the most well-equipped or even competent workers to handle an angry pet, the lack of communication or empathy to even call us when they knew they couldn’t do anything to help my cat is completely unacceptable. They would have rather my cat stay stuck in his carrier for 8 hours and ignore the issue then admit their lack of skills and inability to help. They could have called at any point in the day when they realized they couldn’t work on him and we would have understood and found a more suitable facility. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Zero lack of accountability, empathy or care. Thankfully, we found care in Town and Country Animal Hospital and they were able to take care of him in under two hours with complete and total transparency, care and zero issues. A complete 180 of an experience, but clearly shows that not all facilities have the same dedication, knowledge, competency or commitment to the pets we love and care for ESPECIALLY this Banfield Hospital. DO NOT go to this Banfield if you truly value your pet!!!
