Brought our dog Bruce in for a checkup because he was acting a little off.
We had made the decision to start a wellness plan before we left the house, and made it very clear to the 3 assistants we spoke with that we wanted to start him on a plan and use whatever exams during the initial to figure out why he wasnt feeling well. Yet even after stating it multiple times, every conversation with staff they seemed to not grasp that.
We were told they needed to keep him at the facility for a bit to run tests and they would call us before doing anything outside the basic exams outside of the wellness plan... 3 hours later we call to check in and are told that they havent do e anything because they were waiting the whole time for a drug toxicity test to come back, even though we made it abundantly clear that there was no way he got ahold of any type of medications or cannabis, and he wasnt vomiting or diarrhea at all...then were told that they would run the panels to make sure it wasnt anything else and start him on fluids..
What?!? You mean hes been there for 3 hrs and it was clearly stated and obvious when we brought him in that he wasnt drinking and was dehydrated and you hadnt even started fluids or done a ua/bloodwork??
So we call right back and tell them to stop treatment and we will pay for whats been done and come get him...and the assistant on the phone says 'oh, I think they may be giving him a vaccine at the moment. WHAT?!? First off we were never informed of that or asked prior to that if we were ok with it, and were also told that he wouldnt get any shots anyways just because of being sick and the adverse reactions he needed to be fully healthy when they administer vaccines!! We told them not to and we would be there shortly to get him.
When we arrive, the assistant proceeds to want to argue with us about whether or not she told us on the phone about the vaccine, which is pointless because we should have been informed PRIOR to them even administering it.
In summary, we dropped him off, they didnt nothing(not even a basic fluid/electrolyte treatment to start to flush any possible toxicity and rehydrate or a blood panel/UA to possibly see what it was) for 3 hrs waiting on a drug screen because apparently they think we were lying about him not ingesting drugs. Then they administered a vaccine without informing us and after telling us he wouldnt be able to get them today due to illness(we made it very clear we DID want the updates on shots but were told not today then they STILL gave it to him without notice or approval..THEN wanted to act like they did nothing out of the ordinary and 'it must have been a miscommunication'...
Well, just so theres no miscommunication this time....Banfield just lost a customer and I will be sure to sway any friends/family away from there. Total lack of accountability and complete veterinary misconduct.
If I could give 0 stars I would..

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
