⭐️⭐️ Two-Star Review – Dental Visit at Banfield (Destin, FL) My dog had a dental cleaning done today at Banfield in Destin. While the staff was generally polite and everything seemed to go smoothly at first, I left feeling very concerned and disappointed with the overall care. When I picked my dog up, I noticed she was wet and smelled strongly of urine. I asked the technician about it, but they only mentioned that dogs tend to drool after sedation and did not address the urine concern at all. I also asked whether she had been given the pain medication injection that’s included in the dental package if needed. I was told no, she had not received any pain meds. After leaving, I noticed that she was still excessively drooling, clearly uncomfortable, and whimpering. Her mouth was visibly curled on one side—something I’ve never seen before. I’ve had three other dogs undergo dental cleanings under sedation, including one of a very similar breed, and none of them reacted like this afterward. I called Banfield to report that she seemed to be in pain, but they brushed it off as a side effect of the anesthesia. I explained my concerns, but they were dismissive and offered no further support or pain relief—even though it's part of the care plan. It's frustrating that more effort is made to medicate my dog before regular appointments just to manage her behavior, yet when she’s in actual pain, necessary and included medication is withheld. I don't understand the inconsistency. My dog deserves better care than this.

Beware of the "Wellness Plan". I signed up for both of my dogs and the vet service at this place is like a zoo. Super stressful for my dogs, tehy want me to drop at 9 am to be picked up at 5pm. My dog has been in twice for the same issue and the first vet I dealt with seemed like she was half asleep. I took them to Destin Animal Clinic today and found out what a real vets office is like. It was quiet and calm. I mature vet came in and actually examined my dog with me there, and spent a good 20 minutes with us. And told me to call her in the next few days if nothing improved. That cost me 50.00. Imagine my surprise when I tried to cancel my 75.00 per month wellness plan with Banfield to find out that 1) it cannot be done on the website 2) it cannot be done in the store 3) there is a 55 minute phone wait 4) the chat agent informed me that if I cancel, I have to pay the difference between full price and discounted service for all of the services I received for my dogs. So basically if I want to leave I can pay 75.00 per month for the next 6 months just becuase, or I can cut them a check right now for almost 600.00. I feel completely duped by what I was sold when I signed up as there was 0 mention of this provision that I have to stay for a whole year or be penalized. Buyer beware and read the fine print. I should mention I have never had a free visit there, as every time I use a free sick visit I pay anyway for various and sundry tests and medications. So imagine my shock when I got an actual all in 50.00 visit with a vet where it did not feel like a processing plant.

I am so grateful for the compassionate care we received at PetSmart emergency. My dog, KOJI had a sudden illness and the team and Vet Dr. Renz got us in for an emergency appointment right away. The vet tech, Mariah was a true lifesaver—she was so gentle with Koji during the stressful parts of the exam, A special thank you to Vet Tech Mariah for being so gentle and patient with my dog during You made a stressful situation much calmer. My dog Shiba Inu is never calm when lifting him, but I was surprise Koji let the tech lift him calmly without a fight. Mariah genuinely cares about the animals she treats.

I started taking my dog to Banfield when he was 8 weeks old, he is now 10 yrs old. We started in Colorado and then moved to the Destin office 3 yrs ago. I love that with my plan he gets all his shots, extensive comprehensive exams every six months, free office visits, and yearly a dental cleaning. He has always gotten the best care there. The Vet even called me the next day to check on ME… after a not so good report that made me emotional the day before. I would definitely recommend Banfield to anyone, and I do.
