  I feel compelled to write about the attentiveness we received from Kelly while at Petco. She could not have been kinder or sweeter if she tried! She noticed we were interested in visiting with the kittens and offered to make it happen. She was so friendly and engaged throughout our time there. I cannot say enough about the treatment she gave us! She is a supreme employee and true treasure. Petco is very lucky to have her on their team!

  I Booked a grooming appointment through the Petco app. Just a few hours before the appointment, they texted me to reschedule because 2:45 pm is “too late” and grooming takes too long. They admitted the latest slot should’ve been 2:15 pm, but their system let me book 2:45 anyway. This is ridiculous. I’m trying to give them money, and they’re turning it away due to their own incompetent scheduling. How do businesses like this even survive? Strongly do not recommend.

  Customer service and phone conversations are the best. The employees are friendly and just sooo helpful. And they have nice selection of saltwater fish!

  the best petco i been too!… the one in boca is horrible!!!!!! had a bad experience there but the workers at deerfield location is a vibe workers are really nice i’m always in and out quickly! … the cute short girl with black hair idk her name she’s usually running around or up front she was waiting for us to enter the store to greet us and asked if we were picking up she is always so nice !

  We all know the poor conditions Betta fish are often kept in at pet stores. Today, I decided to buy one for my daughter. At checkout, the cashier asked whether I had a fish tank. I honestly replied that I didn’t yet and planned to buy one after leaving the store. I was specifically looking for a round glass aquarium, which Petco did not have. The cashier then responded in an aggressive and confrontational manner, insisting that I had to purchase a fish tank at Petco in order to buy the Betta fish. She proceeded to take away the fish, the aquarium plant, and the Betta food I had already placed at the counter. I was shocked that she would refuse the sale simply because I wasn’t buying the tank from their store. I pointed out the contradiction: if Petco is truly concerned about animal welfare, they should first address the conditions in which their Betta fish are kept — confined for weeks in tiny cups. I could have easily lied and said I already owned a tank, but as someone who genuinely loves and respects animals, I found the employee’s behavior and hypocrisy deeply offensive. I eventually spoke with the manager, who handled the situation calmly and clarified that I was free to purchase a tank elsewhere and then return to buy the fish. While I appreciated the manager’s professionalism, the experience had already left a very negative impression, and I chose not to return. Instead, I went to PetSmart afterward, where I had a respectful, pleasant, and informative experience. The difference in customer service was night and day.
