  I had an appointment today at Vetco inside Petco in Davie for back-to-back rabies shots for both of my indoor cats. Unfortunately, the entire experience was very disappointing. I drove 25 minutes to get there and arrived early with both cats. One of my cats was crying because she isn’t used to being in a carrier, and the other gets carsick since he’s not used to long car rides. When I took him out of the carrier, I saw he had an accident and then he vomited — clearly from being carsick and throwing up his food. The vet approached us using a tone that felt aggressive and immediately said he would not give my cat the rabies shot because he had just thrown up. I explained that he gets carsick, but the response I received was, “Why would you feed him before coming in here?” I was never given any paperwork or instructions stating that my cats shouldn’t eat before a rabies vaccine. Their appointment was at 4 PM — was I expected to not feed them all day? I have never been told that pets shouldn’t eat prior to a simple rabies shot, and I was also never informed that if a pet gets carsick, they can’t receive a vaccine and must wait an entire week to return. The situation was already overwhelming — I was alone, managing two stressed animals outside of their home environment — and the lack of empathy made it much worse. The overall experience felt dismissive and insensitive. I could have proceeded with vaccinating my other cat, but after how we were treated, I chose to take both cats and leave to find care elsewhere. I will not be returning to this location or any location and would not recommend it to others. I truly hope the veterinarian sees this and reflects on how important compassion and clear communication are in customer service — especially when pet owners are already stressed and just trying to do the right thing for their animals.

  So the experience I had today at the vetco in Plantation was amazing. Joseph was very thorough when it came to explaining what possibly could be the problem not to mention he was very kind to my baby Butter. Dr. Rodhen was a very kind man and you could tell that Butter really took a liking to him. They were also able to not just assess the problem as well as give him medication the day of so he can start feeling better. I will definitely be returning to this location for follow-ups and future checkups when it comes to my frenchie.

  Petco was able to handle my dog well who is very nervous anytime she is taken to the vet.

  My two cats and I had a great experience getting their annual exams and rabies vaccines! Our appointment started promptly on time. The vet tech Maddie and veterinarian Dr. Rothen were extremely warm and friendly. Both of them took the time to answer my questions thoroughly and made sure I had all the info I needed. I would highly recommend bringing your pets here!

  The entire Team and head Doc gave Genuine care that was above and beyond what I had expected or was prepared to experience. I would like them to know that it is something to be proud of. a genuine heart can be seen over a person who doesn't care and even though people may get used to that or accept its the way it is, which sometimes happens. When you get Genuine care for what some call a pet and others call a family member, I feel it should be recognized, and brought to the attention of someone who sees value in something special. you can go anywhere else and get what you expect. You go there to get something special. To some people, that still matters...
