  My pup hurt her leg while visiting family for the winter and I was scrambling to find a vet I could trust last minute. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Lera and the ENTIRE staff at Heron Lakes Animal Hospital. I have been to SO many vets between all my pets over the years and I have never had such thorough, professional and genuinely kind experience before. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile and joy from their receptionist Victoria (you are so sweet and so helpful!), their vet tech Bert is simply oozing out with genuine love for your pet, and Dr Lera, who took almost 4 hours for a consultation/second opinion visit to make sure all t’s are crossed and all of my questions and concerns were answered fully. I was beyond grateful for the attention to detail and patience. I am a bit of a nervous dog mom, I always have a ton of questions and need detailed explanations and I never once felt rushed or felt pressured into anything. Dr Lera went above and beyond to set up a last minute surgery date for my dog Gypsy with a fantastic surgeon, Dr Cabrera. As nervous as I was the day of the surgery I knew she was in good hands with their staff. Thank you Dr Lera and all of your staff for making my experience so smooth and reassuring. Looking forward to having Gypsy be a full time patient of yours once we move to South Florida permanently. 🐾🩵

  Very personable! The entire team caters to your pet. Our geriatric dog got special mats. The doctor takes the time to speak with you and answer all of your questions and is very transparent about treatment possibilities and cost. He also has a decent sense of humor 😉. They all care about The pet pets they care for!

  Dr. Vera truly helped our little baby Molly during one of the scariest moments of our lives when she was having seizures. He was not only knowledgeable and professional, but also incredibly compassionate. He genuinely cared about Molly’s well-being and took the time to explain everything to us in detail so we could understand what was happening and what to expect. He never made us feel rushed, and he showed so much patience and empathy toward both Molly and us as worried pet parents. The entire staff was attentive, kind, and supportive, they cared not only about Molly’s health but also about how we were feeling during such a stressful time. We are beyond grateful for Dr. Vera and his team. Thank you for treating Molly like your own and for giving us peace of mind when we needed it most. God bless you, Dr. Vera. We truly appreciate everything you did for our baby 🙏

  We moved here from Ft Lauderdale at the same time our dog’s original vet was retiring. We took him to a few different places at first to get an idea of what the area had to offer but saw pretty quickly that Dr Lera and his staff were by far the best fit. I learn something new and very useful every time I go in. They’re also fast, gentle, knowledgeable, and always happy to see our baby. We’re very happy with Dr Lera and Heron Lakes Animal Hospital.

  Absolutely fantastic experience with Dr. Lera and Victoria! From the initial phone call to schedule our first appointment, to the moment we stepped into the office and met Dr. Lera, everything was wonderful. We were greeted warmly by Victoria and the “Boss Lady” cat. Victoria is incredibly friendly, professional, and charming. Dr. Lera took the time to get to know us before examining our cat, allowing her to become comfortable with his voice. He listened thoroughly to our concerns and after the examination, provided explanation and walked us through all of our options. I highly recommend Dr. Lera!
