I took my dog in to the Bradenton, Banfield Pet Hospital to have a lump checked on his chest. They sent a specimen to Antec Lab. After the $450 visit and an unclear report that came back from Antec. Dr. White gave me an estimated cost for surgical removal of the mass between $1200 - $1800. Based on the cytology report my understanding was that the mass may represent a benign or low-grade basaloid epithelial tumor, and that definitive diagnosis would only come from full histopathology after removal. Given this information, I asked her to give me a couple days to think about it and make a decision I would give her a call. I called Bradenton, Banfield Pet Hospital three times in the next week and a half to speak to her. I was told they would give her the message to give me a call when she's able to. Never got a return call. I specifically, wanted to ask her whether it would be medically reasonable to perform a simpler removal of the mass without the additional testing initially, in order to reduce cost. My primary goal is to have the mass removed so my dog can be comfortable and than determine if further testing or treatment is necessary depending how things look after surgery. I completely understand that she must recommend what is medically appropriate, and I would have respected her professional judgements. What I don't understand is why she wouldn't return a call or letter from a concerned pet owner! I took my dog to another veterinarian and he seemed to agree with me on how to move forward. The bottom line is he was a quarter of the price. And he felt as I did. He removed the tumor and said let's see where things go. Whether this was the way to go not sure? What I do know for sure and appreciate is a Dr. who takes the time to hear you and help in the decision making process. Apparently Dr. White doesn't have time to be asked questions. "Sad"

I was told a price of 600.00 and then 3905.00. And return visit was a charge also. The operation wasn't successful so you wanted me to continue until it worked.

They failed to schedule my dog's annual checkup on time, and as a result his vaccinations lapsed. I had to return for a second visit and pay extra for a booster. Around the same time they increased the cost of the wellness plan by over $200/year, a hike of nearly 40%, with no communication or explanation. They have also charged me for services such as ear cleaning and nail trimming and then failed to provide those services. When I called to complain about these problems I was told that the price hike was due to an add-on to the plan, despite the fact that I had not made any changes to the plan. When I pointed this out and asked for further clarification the agent became belligerent and hung up on me. I filed a complaint with the BBB nearly 2 months ago and Banfield has refused to respond. This company was great 5 or 6 years ago but has gone rapidly downhill since Covid.

Got a new puppy and scheduled his 1st appointment for today Friday at 5:30 and they called to cancel when it’s too late to find a new vet at 2:30 pm on a Friday for the same day. Thanks for wasting my time.

I’m beyond frustrated with this location! I brought one of my dogs in for a potential UTI and was immediately given an upsell to X-rays, rushed blood/urine work, and other unnecessary medications/procedures. Despite having a wellness plan, I was told all of this would be out of pocket. When I asked why I even had the wellness plan, they changed the total. Despite taking my dogs to banfield locations for the past 5 years, it seems like they didn’t care to even check to see if we had a plan or not. Dropped her off at 8:30 and didn’t hear any updates until AFTER i had called asking for more information at around 3 in the afternoon. Was originally told there were no updates and the doctor hadn’t seen her yet, 30 minutes later I got a call saying she was ready to be picked up. When I arrived I was notified that they wanted to schedule a short check up in about two weeks, scheduled the appointment for 9:00 am no big deal. Fast forward two weeks, I drop my dog off again and clearly notified them I was ready to pick her up as soon as she was done. Again no updates all day. Called at 3 asking what was going on to be told that the doctor hadn’t even seen my dog yet because they were busy with other appointments. Called again at 4:30 and was told the could not get her to pee (7 hours after I had dropped her off), which is completely unbelievable considering that not only has she always gone pee whenever she’s let outside, but also that we brought her in for not being able to hold her pee. I was told it would be another hour and finally picked her up at 5:40, when I did pick her up she immediately peed twice right in front of the building. We will NEVER be going back to this location again. They lied to me about my dog, they held her all day long with no updates on two separate occasions, and will tried to upsell me on unnecessary extras before even seeing her, then attempted to charge me full price ignoring my wellness plan.
