Welcome to Colby's Dogcare & Spa We think dogs are pretty amazing. They are incredibly loyal, an endless source of comic relief, and a generous giver of nuzzles and cuddles when you need them most. They even helped a lot of us stay sane through endless months of quarantine. Dogs are always there for us, and we built a business around being there for them. We’re Colby Dogcare & Spa—a safe, clean and loving provider of luxury canine care, delivered by the world’s biggest dog lovers. We offer Daycare, Sleepovers, Grooming and Training, and our staff is focused on promoting healthy and happy dogs, while delivering convenience and peace-of-mind to the humans who love them. Colby’s is here to make sure no pet is left behind. We’d be honored to care for and spend time with your pups, so they’re less anxious during the day and happier when you return home.

Colby's is absolutely phenomenal. Every single employee will remember your pup's name, greet them with enthusiasm, and send them home with hugs. If you're an overprotective dog parent, this is especially the place for you!! Thank you for all that y'all do.

They took care of my puppy when I was in a bind. They had empathy and moved quickly to accommodate him. They kept me updated and completely informed about his comfort and health and happiness. When I picked him up he looked so happy and healthy and had in a cute bandanna. The staff is amazing. Katarina, Mekhi, Julian, Kegan, and especially Autumn. My puppy has found a good community in this place and with these people.

I had a very upsetting and difficult experience with Colby's and will never bring my dog there again. On two separate occasions after attending daycare (seasons apart), my dog quickly developed significant infections that required emergency veterinary care, invasive diagnostic testing, and multiple rounds of antibiotics. While I cannot definitively say daycare caused these issues, the timing was concerning -- the infections developed only after he went to daycare, and stopped when I stopped daycare. I also observed that he was frequently returned to me appearing dehydrated. I raised this concern with staff and asked that extra attention be given to his water intake. Despite that request, the issue persisted. Because of these issues, he was noticeably not himself and required extensive follow-up care. It broke my heart to see him like this, knowing my decision to send him to Colby's is likely what caused him to feel that way. In addition, while the majority of staff members were kind and professional, I had repeated negative interactions with one front desk employee that I found combative and unhelpful. Although Colby's gets a lot right, I do not trust them to care for my dog because of the repeated health issues following attendance and the customer service concerns. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and that other pet owners have a better experience.

I had the joy of meeting the staff and touring the facility at Colby's yesterday for my pup's assessment to enjoy future stays and visits. From the start, you feel welcome and you know that the staff and the entire team really care about each and every dog. I especially want to thank Autumn, Katarina, Kai, and Marc for their help and support. In addition to the great team at Colby's, the facility is extremely organized, clean, and designed in a way to ensure each dog has a great experience during the day and during overnight stays. When I picked up my pup, he had clearly had a great time, was tired from all of the fun playtime he had, and felt loved every minute he was there. We will definitely be visiting Colby's again soon!

Colby’s Dog Care and Spa is hands down the best dog care in the DC area. Every single time I bring my dog in, she’s treated with so much care and attention, and it’s clear how much the staff genuinely love what they do. I always feel totally confident leaving her there. Today was a great example of why I love this place so much! Colby’s not only takes wonderful care of my dog, but Andrew and Ellie also took the extra steps to help me out in the cold today, which was incredibly kind and thoughtful. It really says a lot about the people who work here. The entire team is consistently warm, patient, and attentive, and I truly wouldn’t trust anyone else with my pet. I’m so grateful to have found Colby’s.

Frequently Asked Questions About Colby's Dogcare and Spa

What are your vaccination requirements?

We take health and safety very seriously. To protect all pups in our care, we REQUIRE certification from your veterinarian that your pup has been vaccinated against: • Bordetella • Distemper (DHPP/DA2PP) • Rabies We also HIGHLY RECOMMEND: • Vaccinating your pup against Leptospirosis and Canine Influenza • Having an annual fecal screening Of course, no pups are admitted with ticks, fleas, or other pests, and all should have legal licenses.

How do I schedule Daycare for the first time?

For the safety and comfort of all our guests, all first-time Daycare pups complete an Assessment Day. You can think of an Assessment Day like a free day of Daycare. You can drop off your pup any time after 7am, but we recommend arriving between 9 am and 10 am and making sure you have 10-15 minutes available. That way we can make sure we have all your information and give you a tour of the facility. We ask that you leave your pup with us for a minimum of 6 hours so that we can get to know them and vice versa. We ask that you fetch your pup between 3 and 4 pm. When you come by to pick up your pup, we’ll discuss what kind of activities they enjoyed and who their new best pals are. To schedule an Assessment Day, submit a request here. We will get back to you confirming your reservation.
