BondVet Cathedral Heights is absolutely the best! Everyone I have met there has been caring and a pleasure to work when I bring Nala in. A special shout out to Dr. L who was so attentive and helpful when my Nala was sick over the holidays. She was very thorough in diagnosing the issue and she really made us feel valued and cared for. Also, Sam is always so awesome when I call and visit the office.

I just had to write a review about the fantastic care that my cat, Oliver, received at bond vet cathedral heights & especially Dr. McIlwain. I took my boy to bond vet a few days after I had taken him to an area ER vet - everything was WNL at the ER vet be he was still acting odd. Dr. McIlwain went over her differentials with me and ran some tests. My poor baby was in kidney failure. She was very compassionate with reviewing his results and what could have caused this. She and her staff then called over the friendship animal hospital and facilitated his transfer which was so helpful as they just took him back once I got there and they knew everything that Dr M had ordered and suspected. Luckily my boy did great after a few days of hospitalization and I brought him back a couple of weeks later with some nausea/vomiting + URI symptoms. The staff was again so kind and remembered Ollie! They treated him like he was their own and Dr M diagnosed him with a corneal ulcer (poor boy). Again gave me a breakdown on what the treatment and diagnostics would be and when to follow up. She and her staff even worked with me to make sure it was as affordable as possible - they have some specials going on right now which was nice. I’m so glad I came to bond vet cathedral heights in my baby’s time of need. Thank you for saving ollies life and help him start to get back to the sweet, cuddly guy I know him to be!

I had a great experience at Bond Vet this week. I went in thinking my cat would need to be put down and Dr. McIlwain and her team worked quickly to figure out what was wrong and talk me through next steps. Everyone was very caring and compassionate and I am so thankful for their hard work and honesty( particularly because it was right after a snow storm and I know it was very hard for them to even make it in to the clinic that day!).

First, I want to say that I have been taking my dog to another Bond Vet location for years and I love the company as a whole, never having anything but great experiences at the Logan Circle, Bethesda, Capitol Hill, and Arlington locations. My dog has a number of medical issues which I have been managing for years and I regularly bring her in for different tests and treatments.
I started going to the Cathedral Heights location 4 months ago because it is much closer to my home. The receptionists and nurses are lovely, however, I will not be returning after a recent experience.
When I switched over to this location 4 months ago, the vet required a full med exam on my dog before she would be willing to continue prescribing her ongoing treatments, all long term and very common. I understood, we had the appointment and I have brought my dog in 2 additional times in the last 3 months. Last week the pet pharmacy I use reached out to them for a refill authorization for one of her long term medications which my dog has been on for a year. After they reached out 4 times over several days with no response I called the Cathedral Heights location to ask them to respond since my dogs meds are running out and I want to avoid a lapse. Hours later I received a message from the vet saying that she would not renew the rx without first taking my dogs blood pressure which she said needed to be monitored every 6 months, (for which I would need to make an appointment, meaning $100+ to take her blood pressure).
I asked why I hadn’t been told that since starting the medication a year ago and, more importantly, why her blood pressure hadn’t been taken in the first appointment 4 months ago or the following 2 visits, including one last week, given the meds she was on. I explained that her meds are running out in a day and asked if they could at least renew a short term rx so she wouldn’t have a lapse in treatment until I could bring her in again. The vet said she was unwilling to do this for even a week while waiting for an appointment.
At this point I was extremely frustrated and called one of her old vets for their opinion. They confirmed that what the Cathedral Heights vet was asking for was not standard or necessary. The old vet went on to arrange a week long supply of her meds so that she won’t miss any days in the short term and are taking care of her rx refill.
I do not know if the Cathedral Heights location is overly cautious and inefficient or purposefully inflexible and requiring unnecessary medical tests to bring in more money, but I will not be returning.
I would recommend Bond Vet to everyone, with the exception of this location.
