Pack your Patience. Our older cat with failing kidneys started urinating blood late on Saturday afternoon and was in pain. We called our local veterinarian office and their after hours line had this emergency veterinary clinic in Longmount as a possible option. I called them and then packed up our cat and headed off for the 50 minute drive. Fortunately, my spouse was doing errands in Longmont and was able to do the admitting paperwork before I arrived. They did an exam, lab work and an ultrasound. Our cat had bladder cysts causing the blood and pain. They were able to give medication to calm his system down and pain meds that had to wait until we got home with a follow up recommendation with our local vet and changing his food from kidney food to urinary food. We are pleased our cat was well taken care of. However, they have a very set way of doing things that takes an unusual amount of time compared to our previous experiences with Vet Clincs. Even with admitting paperwork being completed by my spouse before I arrived, we were there another four hours and they had only one other pet that was there when we arrived and they left an hour after we arrived. Once in an exam room it is a series of tech or vet with a lot of waiting in between. The vet tech comes in with a form with questions and does your pet’s weight and explains that it usually takes around 49 minutes for labs to be done. Then she leaves and you wait for the vet who comes in and asks you the same questions and does an exam. Then the Vet gives suggestions on labs, etc. This wasn’t our first go around with older cats in kidney failure and we explained that, yet they go through everything like it is the first time and slightly condescending way. Then the vet leaves to print out the costs of everything they recommend. Then the tech comes back with the form with costs you and you sign it. Again a lot of wait in between each step. Then they took our cat for tests. We were told it takes 49 minutes to run the labs when they returned our pet to the room. It was closer to an hour and a half before the Vet came back with the results with our pet being stressed the entire time waiting for meds and fluids. We noticed the fluids had not been given yet. We were there so long we asked to use the bathroom which unfortunately you have to use a code for the door lock. It wouldn’t have been a problem but we forgot the code and we when we needed the bathroom again we kept going back out to the reception area and no one was there or in the waiting room. We kept checking back a few times and still empty as well as the other areas except “staff only”. The Vet came back to give us the lab results after the long wait and explained that she waits for the test results first for fluids yet we had requested fluids to be given. She explained the lab results and left. Then we waited for the tech to come back to take our cat back for fluids and medications and then was returned. Another wait for the vet to come in and explain he got one of two meds except not the pain meds which they wanted us to wait until we got home to give him. Then the Vet explained the discharge instructions. We waited again for the tech to come in and again explained the discharge instructions and sign them. The tech told us to walk out to the waiting room to pay the receptionist and our copy of the discharge instructions would be printed out for us. We walked out and no one was in the waiting room or reception area. I was about ready to go back to their “staff only”doors and knock when we finally saw there was a ringer bell by their desk. We pressed it and waited for someone to come out so we could pay. Their system could be greatly improved if their Vets and Techs or staff could work in tandem like most vet clinics or provide simply more efficient customer service and less stress for our cat. Seriously we have been through this before and this would have taken our regular vet clinic a half hour to do papers, exam and get the labs started.

We had to visit the Emergency Pet Clinic in Longmont after 6:00 PM with our dog, and we are incredibly grateful for the outstanding care we received. The entire team was absolutely friendly, welcoming, and compassionate from the very first moment. The staff is highly competent and professional, and it was clear that they truly care about both the animals and their owners. They worked in a very solution-oriented way together with us as pet owners, making sure we felt involved and understood every step of the process. They took the time to explain everything in detail, answered all of our questions patiently, and made sure we felt comfortable with the treatment plan. We especially appreciated that there were no unnecessary additional tests or procedures just to generate extra costs. Everything that was done was clearly justified and medically appropriate. The clinic itself is very clean, well-organized, and orderly. The team was incredibly helpful throughout the entire visit. The costs were absolutely justified and reasonable for the level of emergency care and attention we received. Thank you so much to the entire team for your dedication, professionalism, and kindness. We truly felt that our dog was in the best possible hands.

We brought our dog in for an emergency and every staff member was absolutely wonderful. They were so compassionate and kind to what had happened and what needed to happen. We did have to euthanize our husky, and it was hard for us, especially our son, but they made the experience so wonderful, I could not have imagined going anywhere else now. We will never forget their kindness and love shown to us and our husky. To speak to the cost/price for an emergency, this was considerably lower than we have paid for other emergencies for our other animals at other vets. To expound on our experience with her being euthanized, we were in a private room that was set up for this purpose, and it was beautiful, and there were treats that we could give her and spend as much time as we needed/wanted and then we rang the bell for them to come administer the medication. While it was a rough and emotional experience on our part, they were so wonderful.

My dog ate some chocolate and this place took great care of her. She actually threw up on her own, they did not need to administer anything, so they did not see a reason to charge me. On top of that, the room I waited in was very nice.

I took my dog in for respiration pneumonia which I’ve been through before with him because I just wanted treatment and not a 1000$ bill just to tell me what I already knew. They had an attitude about it gave me the antibiotics I specifically asked about an anti-nausea medication to prevent vomiting and aspirating it again the doctor told me it’s just treating a symptom then told me the antibiotics were likely to give him gastric upset (probably gonna vomit) didn’t for me the medication I requested he then vomited later that day aspirated again causing his pneumonia to worsen that vet should lose his license
