This vet doesn't even deserve 1 star.
I am writing this to warn other pet owners.
Banfield had my dog’s lab results showing elevated liver enzymes for nearly three weeks before they ever told me. During that time, I called multiple times because my dog was not doing well. Each time, I was brushed off and told everything was normal. No one reviewed the lab results they already had.
When I called shortly after his Leptospirosis vaccine because he was sick, I was told it was a normal vaccine reaction. At that point, Banfield already had bloodwork showing his liver was in distress. They did not review it.
I called again asking for prior imaging to be reviewed because my dog continued to decline. That was also ignored. Even when I brought him in, I felt dismissed and talked over when I tried to explain what was happening.
They did not review his labs until almost three weeks later, when I brought him in because he had stopped eating. By then, his liver was failing.
Because Banfield failed to act, I was forced to seek emergency specialty care and spent thousands of dollars trying to save my dog. Banfield suggested he likely had cancer. That was incorrect. All biopsies came back negative for cancer, and the oncologist we saw stated the most likely cause was hepatitis from a reaction to his Leptospirosis vaccine, something that could have been identified much earlier if Banfield had reviewed his labs when they received them.
There was a complete lack of compassion throughout this process. I was scared, desperate, and advocating for my dog, and I was repeatedly brushed off. Even after his death, when I tried to recover the money I spent due to their negligence, I was still dismissed.
Banfield later admitted that his bloodwork had been overlooked and told me they are changing their policy. That does not change the outcome for my dog.
Just because this clinic is cheaper does not mean it is good. You get what you pay for. In my case, it resulted in the death of my dog.
RIP Parker, you deserved so much better, I'm so sorry I took you to Banfield

We have been using Banfield for over ten years and Fort Collins for last 4 years. They have always been professional and caring for our two cats (Stitch and Snow) and our puppy Metzli. We are sad we just moved and are glad Portland has Banfield there.

Been in 4 times for a dog who can’t breathe out of his nose. They just kept chucking different meds at us to try, poor guy has taken one round of antibiotics, one round of steroids, and now on a new round of antibiotics. Nothing is working, he’s not sleeping…we’re not sleeping, it’s been 3 weeks. Tried to go through a specialist with VCA to get more thorough exam, and imaging done per direction of our vet. “Call us anytime and we’ll send the documents to the new clinic”. We called to transfer records and the lady very rudely told us she doesn’t have time. We’ve been in 4 times in a month and spent hundreds, that’s how you’re going to talk to us? This place is terrible.

I have a deaf Great Dane, Moose, who is scared of the vet from a previous bad experience. They were so patient and gentle with Moose. He was able to get his exam and vaccines and loved being there. I can’t thank them enough for their amazing care and bedside manner!

Took my dog here twice, the one thing I didn't like is, when they put cheese on the wall or on the floor and thought my dog was gonna pick it off (yuck) but otherwise it's ok.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?

You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
