We did not have a good experience. I don't recommend bringing a dog who is sensitive or might be nervous or anxious here. I should have turned around at check-in, which seemed disorganized and dirty. I was never asked about my dog, or what we hoped from the grooming beforehand, and was never given a report card at the end. I never met with the groomer beforehand, and my only interaction with them was to be 'shown' why my dog couldn't have her nails trimmed, otherwise I would have never seen them. I was mistakenly texted to say my dog was ready when she wasn't, and when I went in to pick her up she was in the foremost room and looked stressed out. The person who checked me in (an assistant? I don't know. I was never told anyone's names or introduced to anyone) came out to ask why I was there, I said to pick up my dog, and she said they messaged me in error and that I could go pay while she did her nails and she'd wave me down when they were done. I asked if my dog was a good girl and she said she was anxious the whole time and 'had her moments' and 'got nippy' but nothing specific, and nothing about what they did to manage it. I went and paid, and saw my dog attached to some equipment in the room by the slip lead while another dog was brought through, and she looked stressed. Then she tried to do her nails! I was waved in to say they couldn't do them because she kept pulling her paws away. I explained that we'd driven 1 1/2 hours just to get her nails done, and I added all the other stuff just because we had to drive so far. She said 'let me see if the groomer can do them'. I wasn't aware that the groomer was not the person doing the nail trims when I booked the session. That it wasn't done at the same time as everything else. I was waved back in to be 'shown' why the groomer couldn't do them either. They were not gentle and seemed impatient with my dog, getting her up on the table and going right at a front paw with the dremel while she was obviously distressed. Then the groomer got on the table behind my dog's haunch and attempted it that way and my dog FELL OFF THE TABLE. With the lead around her neck. This seemed so unnecessary and unsafe and was distressing for me to see and distressing for my dog to go through. The two of them came out to say, see we can't do her nails because it's not safe for her or us. I agreed! But think the safety issue was created, at least in part, by the environment and approach. We could have just talked about it, I didn't need to be 'shown'. it all felt rushed, after she'd been there for nearly 2 1/2 hours! A dog should never be so distressed they fall of a table with a lead around their neck trying to escape. As I'd already paid, as I was instructed to, I was told I could go get a $10 refund. I just wanted out of there at that point so didn't do so. It wasn't until all of this was over that we actually had a conversation. The groomer and assistant (?) were nice, and we had a good conversation at that point, but it would have been so much better to have had the conversation at the start. My dog is a rescue, but she's been groomed before. I have video of her being groomed in November when she was in foster care and she was nervous but did great, tolerating everything, and her nail trim was no big deal. She even almost fell asleep while being blow dried. It was why I felt comfortable booking her an appointment. If you have a sensitive or nervous dog, I wouldn't bring them here. Sorry for being so detailed, but having read a review like this one would have helped me a lot!

Zero stars. I booked online and drove 6 1/2 hours from Cortez to get there for the appointment. When I arrived, I was told that they wouldn’t groom my dog because the groomer on duty refuses to do dogs that are double coated (even though he’s been groomed at this location multiple times) and that this groomer wouldn’t at least trim his nails because they “don’t just trim nails.” Every Petco location takes walk-ins for nail trims. Noah was rude and obnoxious and acted like it was my fault that I didn’t know that she wouldn’t perform the services that I had booked even though they had my dog’s information and he’d been groomed at this location and others multiple times. Terrible customer service. What exactly is the point of having a groomer that doesn’t groom dogs?? And why would they book the appointment knowing that Noah wouldn’t do it?? Now I have wasted an entire day, have to turn around and drive back 6 1/2 hours, and my dog still isn’t groomed.

Forgot to trim/grind one of my dog's inner nails. Didn't notice until a few weeks later when she injured it from being too long. The other 3 all short same length. Just forgot it and paid $120 for this with the special nail trim and grinding. No I have expensive vet bill. Thanks petco! Wish I could take that tip back.
