Dr. Slomowitz is truly one of a kind. She always shows so much compassion and patience, even when your pet decides not to cooperate—which was definitely Zelda yesterday! After several gentle tries, Casey was so patient when she called to talk through the best way to help her, and we decided on a little sedation. It worked beautifully. Zelda was able to get her full exam, bloodwork, urinalysis, weight check, and even her pedicure without getting additionally stressed or scared.
Every single person there makes the experience easier. Hannah and Rachel at the front desk are always so kind and welcoming. Gabi is an amazing vet tech, and Dr. Y has helped my other cats before—she’s just as wonderful and caring. Even though Clarissa and Dominique weren’t there this time, they’re both an important part of why I trust this whole team so much.
It’s such a relief knowing Zelda (and Troy) are in such good hands. You can really feel that they love what they do, and it shows in the way they treat every animal as if they were their own. I can’t recommend Dr. Slomowitz , Dr. Y and their team enough.

My beloved Frenchi pup, just 2 years old, as active as a Jack Russell, screeched out when I went to pick him up and shortly after became unable to move anything from the waist down. Totally paralysis! I rushed him to Banfield panicked and in the dark as to why this was happening to him!
The staff took him from my arms and brought him back to be examined by the Dr.
I was blessed to have Dr Dennis who works out of the Westlake location.
She explained what she strongly believed was what he was suffering from. IVDD. It is a very serious condition that has a low recovery rate without surgery. Dr Dennis understood my devastation being faced with a 2 year old dog that may never walk again.
She was compassionate, honest and patient while I asked 45 minutes of questions so I could understand how I may be able to reverse this, even if the statistics were not in my pup’s favor.
When the call was over I understood exactly what was happening to him and how important following her at home care instructions would be if I wanted to get him to walk again.
Within 1 week my Enzo was standing on his own and within 3 weeks he was walking and it was apparent that he was going to be independent and 100 percent living a happy blissful life.
During those 3 weeks, I was bringing Enzo in to be evaluated and to adjust his meds. Dr Dennis cleared her schedule to sit with me and Enzo to observe and evaluate him move and to discuss the next steps.
Dr Dennis understood my love for Enzo and my commitment to do whatever she recommended to reverse the damage the IVDD diagnosis he was given.
I saved over 30k on a surgery that was a 50/50 if it would work and she made me feel so supported and validated that what I was doing ( literally following her instructions to a T) was the reason he was beating the odds and making a full recovery.
It has been 3 months and Enzo is a happy healthy energetic dog who, though he may have some weakness in his hind legs due to permanent disc damage, is living his best life and will be able to walk pee poop run play and snuggle all on his own because of Banfield Dr’s and staff and how Dr Dennis cared and made time to make sure I had the tools to give him the best care!
I will forever be grateful to Her and to Banfield for saving my dogs quality of life.
He is my soul dog and he is so very happy and free to run and play for many many more years!
