One of the hardest vet visits we’ve ever had but the staff was extremely kinda and compassionate, and gave all the options and time we needed. I have had trouble at other vets but no issues here and we ended up deciding on humane euthanasia for our cat. Thank you to the veterinarian and all the veterinarian assistance. Beans was in great hands and was very comfortable in her final moments. Pricing was very comparable to non emergency vets I have been too.

Let start by saying, I'm new to this area and the issue with animals not being helped by the average Joe has become clear as to why.. this afternoon we found a small dog on Caldwell at the AM/PM. The dog was possibly hit by a car (injured hip) or was poisoned (seizures) whatever happened, what's clear is the dog is dying, slowly and quite painfully per the painful constant whimpers and cries. I called and spoke to someone. Brought the dog in and had them scan him to see if we could find his owner. The woman behind the desk was absolutely wonderful. Took a seat and the doctor came out. Immediately she told me "when dogs are having seizures we like to start with an IV $165 and go from there. She asked if I wanted to take financial responsibility for the dog. I was honest, I can't take financial responsibility for a dog that isn't mine. (This dog is literally dying as I write this) She asked if I'd contacted animal control (and to be honest, that hadn't even occurred to me). I said no. I asked if she knew where animal control was. She told me "Google it". So I'm googling... But to leave a review. I walked out with him and as soon as I got to the car, he had another seizure and I had him on the asphalt laying on towel in the parking lot while my husband stood behind me (10:40ish PM) so I wouldn't get hit of someone drove in. The lack of care and empathy they showed for this little guy is likely the same they'd have for your pet. So consider that if you're looking for a vet. They vet does NOT take Good Samaritan drop off surrender. Update: we took that dog home and tended to him the best we could. Stayed up with him all night as he had seizures between ever 20+45 minutes. He passed away Christmas Eve, night.. Update: I do see your response and let me clarify because I feel this is an optics issue. I'm sure you know animal control couldn't help due to 1. The time and 2. The following day was Christmas Eve. The dog was found in Visalia. I am a resident of Tulare Country. We tried everyone Christmas Eve (at 8am and on) and even my own vet (Porterville) was closed. So, your snarky comment should have been left out. Furthermore, the dog was scanned at MY request upon entering. As you may know I called before going there. I was told it was basically at the discretion of the vet. My issue is with the vet who came out. Compassion? Her concern was money. And I do understand the cost of becoming a vet. I also understand the cost of that building you're in. No shade. People in our community are under the impression that you are a compassionate vet ER and that in a dire emergency (an animal dying) they can do a "good samaritan surrender" there. It's important the community understand you are neither. I will be attending a board meeting in Visalia to address this in January. I will also be attending both Tulare meetings because as it stands, I've been to third world countries that treat their community animals better. In this case it does involve funding and animal control in all three places. It's extremely unfortunate that dog had to suffer and IMO more unfortunate that my family had to be involved. And to clarify, as I said I'm not from here, I lived 23 years in San Francisco, 5 years in San Jose, 25 years in Fresno, 1.5 years in Visalia and now just short of 2 years in Tulare County and on occasion I've found dying animals due to (all but one hit by cars) and never has a very in any other community turned an animal away including but not limited to vet ERs. In fact on a handful of occasions I've paid to have the animal euthanized and the vet has always been upfront with a euthanasia price and often they suggest that I Just surrender the animal because it is not mine. Never ever have I been told that we have to start out with an IV and go from there on an animal that is clearly dying. And heck that includes my own animals. There is absolutely nothing wrong with fleecing people as a vet. Just be honest.
