I wanted to give a massive shout out to VSEC. Last Thursday my wife went out to the patio and the cats will run outside when we open the door. Unknown to us a coyote was a the other side of the patio, and had attacked my cat Jimmy. Went my wife told me she saw a coyote. I went running out in sandals and no flashlight and found my poor kitty on the ground in shock unknown to the damage. I raced him to VSEC at 530 in the morning . He was given treatment right away. He was given oxygen , care, and a rabies shot. With in 48 hours he was good to go and is home with a care plan. He is lying cozy on the floor. Dr. Ferrel was amazing in helping us . And so was so many of the staff members. We owe the life of our cat to VSEC. And we are incredibly grateful for their quick efforts and actions to help restore Jimmy to a healthy state. The only caveat I’ll say is get pet insurance! It’s worth it. We now have had to cover kidney stones, another cat who bit onto a fishing hook, and now this. We will definitely be investing in pet insurance.

They took advantage!
First of all, I'd like to say that the treatment they provided was fully satisfactory. But at a price of $1,127.42 for a few staples, absurd! They charged me $375 for blood work. I told them we didn't need blood work for our dog to get staples on a wound about 1.5". They insisted and said they wouldn't give us an antibiotic otherwise. They charged $140.25 for "wound treatment". This on top of the charge for the office visit, the staples, the sedation, etc. I get paying extra because it's an ER and it's Sunday night. but preying on pet parents in this way is cruel. I also didn't appreciate how, when we checked in, there were two other patients in the lobby. They said we would be seen "soon." How do you interpret soon? I don't think anyone would say three hours is soon. Bottom line, I wouldn't be writing this negative review if it weren't for the $375 for blood work.

The doctor who saw my cat seemed nice enough. However, The technicians that helped me were curt and abrupt with me. noticed that there was a very friendly kind male technician who was helping others.

I brought my dog here for a rattlesnake bite on a Sunday evening when everything else was closed. As crappy as the situation was, VSEC made it as easy and pleasant for me as possible.
The vet, Dr. Farrell, was compassionate, and the way she handled our case was very logical and reasonable. What I appreciated the most is that the staff realized that neither me, nor my dog wanted to be there, so they got the critical tests and treatments done, and then let us go home, which worked out perfectly. I think 90% of emergency vet places would have forced me to go home and leave my dog there overnight for observation. Thank you Dr. Farrell and VSEC!
