  I had the worst experience with the “manager” LEROY this evening. I went into the store to pickup a door dash order. I advised Leroy of this as so walked into the store. He then told me to get in line as if I was a paying customer waiting to check out. It was 3 people in front of me he took over 8 mins for a simple return and proceeded to take his time to give me the order I was there to pick up and made me late for my delivery. After I asked “the order was where all along” he proceeded to get sassy at the mouth and state how I should be patient and wait like all the other customers. Meanwhile I’m not a customer. I am a third party contracted vendor working to deliver for Petco. His attitude and professionalism should be studied. I now know why the reviews for this store had slowly but surely been going down if this is the store manager and the example for other employees to follow. Not to mention I come to this store myself often for my Maltipoo needs. Won’t be back and will be reporting this it door dash so no other dashers has to experience what I have today.

  We have been loyal Petco grooming customers since we adopted our dog, Sunshine, in 2022. We recently moved from Northern California to Santa Monica. That has been a big transition for us and for Sunshine, but she has always been excellent with grooming and never had any issue with our previous groomer in NorCal for 3–4 years. At the Santa Monica Petco, groomer Oscar banned our dog Sunshine from all future grooming and said she was “too stressed.” I was very surprised by this, especially since there was no attempt to help her acclimate or make her feel safe. Additionally, when we tried to engage with the groomer, he showed no friendliness or warmth — he barely acknowledged us. I don’t understand how a groomer who is not even friendly with the pet owner can build trust with the dog. Sunshine is in a brand new city and is naturally adjusting. What she needed was patience, empathy, and a gentle introduction — not to be turned away like this. We are very disappointed with how this was handled.

  Accidentally bought the wrong leash wanted a choke chain purchased it one day ago came into the store didn’t get a receipt went to the same guy that I purchased from yesterday just wanting to exchange it and they wouldn’t even do a simple exchange. I’m sticking to my local mom and Pop shops For now on. They would definitely do a simple exchange like that.
