I never imagined I’d have such a poor experience at Vetco. My cat had severe eye discharge for over a week, and when I brought him in, I showed the doctor photos of how bad his eye looked the day before. He completely dismissed my concern, did a rushed 1-minute exam, and said, “He seems fine.” I know that cats self-clean their eyes, and it's not that obvious on the signs of infection....But I don't understand why he despite the photos and my clear description of the symptoms. I paid over $100 for this brief visit and received no medication or treatment. Unsurprisingly, the very next day, my cat’s eye got worse. He couldn’t open it properly, and I had to call Vetco again. They told me I’d need to bring him in for another full-price visit...another $100+ just for them to “check again.” And if my cat looked slightly better by then, they might still not offer any preventative treatment. It felt like all they cared about was collecting another consultation fee, not actually helping. This was the worst vet experience I’ve ever had. Do not go here if you care about your pet’s health. This place is all about the money, not the medicine. Don’t come to this place!!

Dr. Affeld was amazing! He explained my dog’s condition in a way that was easy to understand, gave care instructions that were simple but detailed and addressed the condition for the long term, and my dog LOVED him. I hope he continues to be a regular at the clinic. I cannot thank him enough for his recommendations and the care he put forth for my puppy.

We were initially satisfied with the veterinary services at Petco, but over time this feeling has changed. After paying more than a thousand dollars to have our dog's teeth cleaned with a few extractions, we returned a week later for a brief follow-up. The vet tech took our dog's temperature and asked us a couple questions. She told us our dog was fine, which we already knew. This took maybe 5-10 minutes. On the way out, they hit us with a $65 "vet tech fee." We seriously just paid over a thousand dollars, and the brief follow-up visit wasn't even included?? I did not need the follow-up and I never would have scheduled it had I known they would charge so much. Also, the vet tech supposedly saw one flea during his visit and they tacked on an additional charge for flea medication which I never requested. I don't know if I would recommend their services. I took my cat to this same vet for a health issue, and they reported me to the City of San Jose simply for owning a cat. The City of San Jose made me pay some ridiculous "pet licensing fee." Honestly, we feel so nickel-and-dimed by this place. They add on extra charges any chance they get, and report pet owners to the city. This has become a bad experience the more we use their services but I'm trying to be kind with three stars.
