I have been a loyal client of Banfield for over 10 years, trusting them completely with the care of my dogs, but my recent experience has been devastating! While we faithfully paid for their health plans, we consistently spent an additional $200–$300 on extra studies or medication every visit, making us question the value of the plan itself. Most tragically, our dog recently passed away due to the lack of a diabetes diagnosis, which tragically progressed into fatal diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). This condition went undiagnosed by Banfield for over a year. He exhibited classic symptoms, including increased thirst, frequent urination and altered liver enzyme levels. Recently he showed rapid weight loss (about 5 pounds in a month) and hair loss, which were dismissed as him being at an "ideal weight." Despite all the money spent ruling out severe conditions like cancer, the veterinarians never managed to connect all his symptoms and suggest the most basic test for diabetes. We are heartbroken and feel completely failed; we trusted them with our loving family member, and we believe their negligence is the reason we lost him. Shame on you, Banfield.

We are thoroughly unimpressed with our experience at our experience with Banfield. We took our dog in for a reoccurring ear infection (that other trips to Banfield never seem to fix), so we thought we would try one last time. We had a drop-off appointment, and over 3 hours later, we had not received any updates. We had to physically go in and ask for an update, and they said he was scheduled to be seen next (but it certainly didn't seem like it). He came out less than 10 minutes later, with no review of what they did or what was wrong. It felt like we were just a number to rush through than a valued patient. Very frustrating experience overall, we will not be returning in the future.

Jessie helped me out today with my saluki Habibti. She was completely transparent and very gentle with my pup. Ultimately she convinced me to sign up for a pet care plan for recurring treatment and preventative care. I didn't feel pressured at all and have been completely satisfied with the care my girl has received here since her ear infection earlier this year!
I know pet insurance policies exist out there, but the convenience of the location and the direct care is very easy to justify.

Worst experience I have ever had. My dog has anxiety so he has to be heavily medicated prior to his appointment. His appointment was cancelled twice at the last minute after giving him the necessary medication to bring him in for his appointment. I ended up bringing him to a different BANFIELD hoping the service would be better but it wasn’t. I told him besides the medication I gave him, he would need to be sedated. I even signed a paper given them the okay to do it. End result, doctor did not see him until after the medication wore off and did not realize that I okayed for them to sedate him. So it’s been 3 failed appointments to have my dog who suddenly is suffering from seizures and struggling with his breathing. Very disappointed at how this has been handled. They didn’t even do half of the regular wellness treatments and test that he was supposed to get. Now they want to reschedule which means driving him some more. Terrible!

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
