. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
I have an 8-month-old Staffordshire Terrier mix. Yes, he is a very energetic puppy who loves to play, but this was our third visit to this location for routine checkups. The first two visits were great—the doctors and staff made us feel comfortable and were very loving and helpful with our puppy.
Unfortunately, today was the worst experience we’ve had.
We came in for a physical exam and flea medication. At first, everything seemed fine, but the last technician we dealt with was extremely rude and unprofessional. There was an issue with our billing plan, and while she was trying to resolve it, she became visibly frustrated. She called me, I answered, and she immediately hung up—even though I was sitting in the waiting area directly in front of her. When I walked up, she ignored me and didn’t even acknowledge that she had called.
Throughout the visit, no one provided any information about my dog. The technician eventually came out and loudly said, “Whose dog is this? I don’t even know,” in an annoyed tone. When I told her he was mine, she said he was “too hyper to do anything,” that they didn’t cut his nails because he was “too much,” and that next time he would need to be medicated just to have his nails cut or an exam done.
I was never given the opportunity to speak with the doctor, and nothing was explained regarding what was or wasn’t done during the visit. It felt like she just wanted us out of the building.
As we were leaving, we passed another dog, and the technician jumped in front of it and yelled “NO” at my dog, implying he might be aggressive. My dog has never growled at or shown aggression toward another animal. That moment was incredibly upsetting.
Our previous two visits were excellent—his nails were cut, he received a thorough exam, and the staff was kind and patient. That’s why this experience was so disappointing. This technician seemed annoyed from the very beginning, and because of this interaction, we will never return to this location

We had an appointment on Sunday, December 7th at 9:00am. We arrived at 8:45 to check in early since it is a drop off and we thought that they'd be open since it states online and on their window that they open at 8. It was 9:03 and not a soul in sight. I pay for their wellness program and this isn't the first time I have had a negative experience with them. This company is disappointing and so are their locations. Would not recommend them.

BEWARE!! Please see other reviews regarding the same scheduling issues and pushing sales over care. They will have your pet sit in a cage for hours due to improper scheduling. Front desk staff makes suggestions out of their scope.
The Banfield Pet Hospital primarily concerns allegations of putting profit over patient care, leading to lawsuits and customer complaints about practices like unnecessary testing, aggressive marketing of its "Optimum Wellness Plans," and a difficult cancellation process.
We experienced this first hand at this location starting at the front desk staff. The staff said “I’m proud for my customer service.” While actively cutting my boyfriend off and trying to explain how they were correct for suggesting solutions at the front desk that were not related to the issue. They will try to sell you dog plans and their food over providing proper care. There is no surprise Banfield has the reputation it does to sell their products over providing care. After 3 pets, 3 puppy plans I can confidently say RUN! Furthermore front desk staff was condescending and asked if I understood what kind of appointment I booked. I explained that my expectation was simply that my dog would see a Vet and not be sitting in a cage for hours. If you want good care for your pet, book elsewhere!

I can’t say enough great things about the service my Chloe received from both doctors and the office staff as well. She was seen immediately and my concerns were that maybe I might have to be dealing with something in my dogs throat that could eventually be diagnosed as non benign. After the doctor decide to aspirate her growth I was static to hear that the result was actually an abcest that could be treated with a dose of antibiotics. I was surprised as well to learn that my baby has a heart murmur that is pretty significant. I would have never known this if the doctor had not found it in the general exam while listening to her heart. I now have the knowledge I feel that is necessary for me to treat Chloe’s condition as well as I can and do what I need to give Chloe the best chance of a long and healthy life ahead of her. Thank you so much to everyone that was a part of treating my baby girl when we brought her in that day. Very professional and down to earth atmosphere. I certainly will not be taking Chloe back to her previous vet located in Santee (Mast Blvd. Pet Hosptal). Why has they not ever found the heart murmur before I brought her into Banfield? This has raised a lot of concerns and questions of its own.

My Sweetpea had an ear infection and Dr. Sensed took great care of her and was so kind and patient. I'll definitely be back for all of Sweetpea's needs.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
• Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
