    I recently got my cat fixed at Banfield, and they gave him a soft cone after surgery. A few days later, I noticed he was licking himself even with the cone on, so clearly it wasn’t effective. I called the hospital, and a man told me that’s the cone they give to cats and that they’ve never had this issue before. He even joked that my cat must be “a smart cat.” I told him I just needed a hard cone like the one my other cat had before, and he said I could come pick one up. The next morning, I called again to confirm everything was ready, and the woman on the phone said yes. After work, I went to pick it up, and suddenly the lady at the front told me I had to return the soft cone first. Excuse me — nobody ever mentioned that during any of my calls! It’s not my fault they gave me a cheap, ineffective cone that didn’t do its job. I already paid $37 for it, and now they’re making it my problem. Very frustrating and unprofessional experience.

    Definitely a corporate approach to pet care. The receptionist runs hot and cold, and the prices are high. I picked up my cat one time and the carrier door came open while I was in the parking lot, heading to my car. My cat was an inside cat and most likely would have panicked had she fallen out. It wasn't the mistake of them not making sure it was closed properly that bothered me, it was the defensive and dismissive reaction I received when I complained. I reached out to corporate, and did not receive a reply, or apology.
