WAS GREAT BEFORE…We had been regular patrons of both the grooming salon and the affiliated veterinary clinic for many years—then COVID hit and the two businesses were sold to a chain corporation—PetVet.
We stayed with CKC after lockdown ended, despite the new higher prices, unreturned phone calls, and general lack of organization, because of our affection for Katie, our favorite bather, Tammy, our regular groomer, and other employees who were kind to our pups.
But the new out-of-town corporate owner, PetVet, which also owns CKC’s partner business Surfside Animal Hospital—has lost us—and everyone we know in the Oceanside dog community.
They not care about pet parents, and the good employees there—who have longstanding relationships with the community—are hamstrung by the corporate greed and “get them in, get them out, get the cash” policies of PetVet.
We changed our vet out of necessity (Surfside was closed for a long time during COVID) and now, after many years of taking our sweet and trouble-free dogs to CKC for grooming on a regular basis, we are looking for a new groomer too. I feel sorry for their employees—and our community.
