  Went in to get cat food with some friends. They kicked us out because we found an opened toy and they blamed it on us and said they saw us open it but the package was busted like it had been mangled for a while and we had just gotten there. Did not end up purchasing the cat food.

  Amazing friendly staff that always remember me. I adopted a friend for my boy Angel during their gran opening, her name is Lottie. I love this location, they are KILLING it with rapid adoptions of cats every single day.

  I went to Merced's Petco around 4-5pm with my sister. We were there browsing for a new pet collar for our black cat and since this was our first time in the Petco we were just browsing around. We went to the cat collar isle and started talking about which collar would suit our cat better. One of the ladies who worked there, she was a white lady who looked like she was in her mid-late 30s started following us around the store. We fist saw her next to us literally doing a terrible job of trying to act like she was organizing something and all I hear was just plastic rustling. And for like past 3 mins she was STILL there while we were out loud talking about BUYING a collar. My sister decided to do a test an out loud said "let's go to the dog collar isle" and started walking there and SHE STARTED FOLLOWING US. we started looking there and she started walking past and basically hovering over what we were doing. We went to two different isles to make sure and we kept seeing her pop up and act like she was not watching us and kept organizing literally nothing. I got fed up and confronted her about it and told her we keep seeing her and asked if there was a problem. She kept denying that she was following us and said "I'm just doing my job, I'm organizing because we're about to close" MIND YOU, WE CHECKED THE CLOSING TIME AND IT WAS AT 7, THEY HAD 3 HOURS UNTIL CLOSING TIME. So I walk away and we go to yet another different isle and she literally started staring at nothing and acting like she was organizing things next to us. She literally followed us all the way to the cashier and would act like she wasn't staring at us. The cashier who ringed us up tho was a sweetheart and even asked about our cat and I ended up telling her what happened and reassured us she was gonna tell upper management. It got so bad that we were literally saying hi to our mom who happened to be parked in front of Petco and the lady noticed it was us outside and kept patroling the damn door until I'm pretty sure she got scared like we were gonna do something even tho we were just talking in the parking lot, they sent out another Petco worker a dude in a black Petco shirt (I don't know if he was security or not) but he started looking for us in the parking lot and we recorded him and we knew he saw us recording. I wouldn't recommend going there. It seems like they like targeting people who look a certain way.

  The store looks great. We checked out the self-dog wash, which will be great to wash our Great Pyrenees. Everything seems nicely labeled and the aquarium area is fun with the ocean sounds. Staff were very nice greeting us and during check out. My dog and parakeet at home both loved their treats!

  The store is nice and clean. The prices are insultingly high. I saw a product that was priced at $54 in Petco and drove a half mile to PetSmart and saw the same product priced at $36. With the economy the way it is, this price gouging will guarantee I will continue to shop at PetSmart. It is rude of Petco to grift customers.
