We had such a great experience here. The entire staff was incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. My dog is very anxious, and they went out of their way to make him feel comfortable—taking their time, speaking gently, and never rushing us. You can truly tell they care about the animals. It made such a difference to feel heard and supported, especially with a nervous pup. We left feeling relieved and grateful. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a compassionate, friendly vet

I had Dr Testa and she's the cat whisperer. She was on the floor with my cat in her lap, giving her a belly rub. My cat is not a lap-cat, but there she was, practically passing out on this vets lap. Prices seem comparable to other I've been to. I had the panel of labs she suggested for my senior cat, and intravenous fluids because she's dehydrated. About 500 bucks. And there's kittens for adoption there. To me, that's a good sign. 👍🏽

Our dogs been seen at Shane’s at least 5 times in the last 2 months. 1 compliment, 3 major complaints. 1-compliment: surgery to remove spleen was scheduled quickly and thankfully went well. 2-complaints: getting records takes miracles, multiple calls and emails. Slow admin. 3-complaint: the lab that did the biopsy, IDEX, has not given a conclusive response. It will be 1 month in a few days. Even accounting for Thanksgiving break it seems egregious to wait this long. No proactive communication from Shane’s. We keep calling and emailing. We are waiting to do another procedure and need to know her condition ASAP. Our dog is in pain. 4-complaint: our dog was seen 3 times for her eye, teeth, and general health before the surgery. Nobody noticed her hard belly. Admittedly, I only thought to ask specifically after I realized the stomach was continually hard… but nobody even touched our 12-year-old lethargic dog for a general health check in those 3 visits? We kept telling them she was sluggish and acting funny. I had to take her in specifically for this again and then we had multiple X-rays on the spot (which were not sent though we asked— they sent 1 via email!) and then emergency surgery bc she could have died from it. And this was not noticed by techs and vets in 3 visits???

Tucked right in the heart of Marina del Rey, Shane Veterinary practice is a rare gem—warm, personal, and genuinely devoted to the animals they care for. What sets it apart immediately is its intimate scale. Instead of feeling like you’re being rushed through a massive, impersonal operation, you’re met with a level of attention that only a smaller, more thoughtful practice can provide. Dr. Testa embodies everything you hope to find in a veterinarian. When I brought in Max, my cat, she didn’t reach for an exam table or try to force him into a clinical pose. Instead, she settled onto a soft rug, invited Max to explore at his own pace, played with him, and even scooped him into a gentle hug before beginning his exam. Only after he was fully at ease did she start evaluating him—right there on the rug where he felt comfortable and secure. It was clear she wasn’t just treating a patient; she was caring for someone who mattered. Her dedication to Max’s comfort and well-being left a deep impression. The kindness doesn’t stop with the doctor. At the front desk, Sahara and Darnell set the tone the moment you walk in—warm smiles, genuine friendliness, and a level of helpfulness you don’t often find. They make the entire process—from check-in to follow-up—feel effortless. Another standout point: the cost of care. Their fees are refreshingly reasonable, especially compared to large practices weighed down by massive overhead. You receive exceptional, attentive treatment without the sticker shock. It’s no surprise that this practice has been voted “Best Veterinary Practice” by the Argonaut Newspaper for eleven straight years. After experiencing their care firsthand, the accolade feels entirely earned. Five stars, without hesitation. If you’re looking for a place where your pet will be treated with patience, compassion, and true heart, this is the one.
