Banfield Pet Hospital® - Lincoln provides quality and attentive health and wellness care for dog, cat and small animal pet patients. Our veterinarians and staff are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and preventive health care with a full-service medical facility offering general services like routine vaccinations, microchipping, dental and surgical care and more. We are accepting new patients now.
I’ve had Banfield pet insurance for years, and their service has gotten worse and worse. They’ll tell you they did lab work or blood draws when they actually didn’t, and then later turn around and claim you need to come back in for those same tests before they’ll refill a prescription. It’s incredibly frustrating and feels dishonest. On top of that, they constantly push add-ons and unnecessary services, it really comes across as a money-first operation, not a place focused on pets or their owners. I can’t recommend them anymore.

So here’s the thing. I have mixed feelings about Banfield. Their wellness plan is hard to get out of and it’s expensive! But the experiences are what this review is really about. Sometimes they are great but when they are bad, it stands out.
Point 1: my cat came in, she wasn’t doing to well and was acting odd. The doctor sees her and informs me she’s going to die. There was no empathy and care. I was a scared 20 year old with my younger sister being told she was going to dye and being told she can die here (in Banfield) or at home tonight, but won’t live through the night. The doctor just didn’t care. It was traumatizing. We called our parents and we made the choice to put her down there held in my arms. Then they were callous about taking her and telling us our options. There was just no care. No sympathy, no empathy, it felt cruel.
Point 2: we call the advice hotline cause our little cat got stung by something and was swelling in her mouth. They tell us take her to the clinic. We got an appointment, call center helped get us one in 30 min. We get in the car, and we are in the clinics parking lot foot, they call us and tell us they’re canceling our appointment to go on lunch. So we went to another location and they were amazing and caring and took care of her. But it was still expensive even on the wellness plan.
Point 3: we take our cat in for vaccines, just a standard shot. We could clearly hear, even from behind closed doors, the staff openly discussing that they were going to refuse service because our cat wasn’t sedated. While we understand the preference for her to be on Gabapentin (GABA), we’ve expressed that we’re not always comfortable medicating her for certain appointments—especially when it’s something as simple as a quick injection. She only needed a single shot. And had never shown signs of anger, violence, or even been rude to the vet or vet techs. They took her to the back and closed the door, but it was very clear she wasn’t going to do the shot. We could hear the vet tech and the Vet through the walls. After all that, they didn’t attempt to administer the shot. Instead, they insisted she needed to be on 2 ml of GABA (her usual dose is 0.75 ml), and refused to touch her unless she was sedated. We were heard the Vet say that if we gave the vet tech any pushback, come get her and she would deal with us. Eventually, the vet tech returned and told us we’d need to reschedule and medicate her beforehand, stating they didn’t want anyone to get hurt or increase her stress. While we understand the desire to minimize risk for both the staff and our cat, the way the situation was handled felt very unprofessional—especially hearing everything so clearly through thin walls. It felt dismissive and uncomfortable.
Again we have had mixed reviews but these 3 just stood out as such negative experiences it’s hard to give them more stars and suggest people going

We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
