Associate was telling the customer that bettas can be kept in a bowl, with no heater, and no filter. Although yes it CAN be done it shouldn’t and as a company whose whole purpose is to care for pets—they should know and DO better. Bettas need proper care too. The betta selection was heart breaking. A dead betta floating in murky water. 80% of their bettas are suffering from severe swim bladder, floating sideways, gills working hard to breathe. My heart broke. When talking to the MOD, the reply was “we are short staffed” the swim bladder doesn’t come from being short staffed—although yes it can contribute to tasks not being completed— it stems from improper care. Many big gallon tanks are on sale. As a company, they should allow their associates to utilize one or two 40 gallon-75 gal place dividers with blackout cover so the bettas don’t stress out and show PROPER set up for bettas. They’re not just fish. They’re animals and should be cared as such. do better as a company and the workers should provide proper information as well. A lot of their fish are ridden with Ick. Truly. Change needs to be done.
