CRITICAL MEDICAL FAILURE: TRAUMATIC EUTHANASIA AND DIGNITY DENIED. Dr STEFANI SISON I am writing this review to warn future clients about a critical failure in medical protocol during the euthanasia of my beloved 15-year-old dog on November 17 2025. The procedure was an emotionally devastating, traumatic experience, not the peaceful passing we were promised and paid for. The Background: My dog was being euthanized due to advanced neurological disease, including frequent seizures and cognitive decline. The entire purpose of the visit was to provide him with a humane, peaceful release from suffering. The Medical Failure: The veterinary team failed to ensure proper, effective sedation before administering the final solution. Ineffective Sedation: The pre-euthanasia sedative was either improperly dosed or failed to take effect. My dog was conscious and alert throughout the preparation. I asked for a sedative beforehand and 3 times the vet tech tried to talk me out of it. I insisted and she told me quote “the vet doesn’t want to give him a lot.” Lack of Reassessment: The staff proceeded with the final injection despite clear signs that the dog was not deeply sedated. He was still sitting upright. Severe Distress: He was fully conscious and terrified during this final, agonizing moment when the euthanasia drug was administered. The vet was visibly scrambling and told me they needed to take him to the back to do another IV in the other leg after they failed to properly euthanize him. They took him back for at least 10 min while we waited in horror. This was all AFTER the euthanasia drug was given which undoubtedly caused him pain as he was still WIDE awake. They brought him back unconscious finally and finished the process. Blame/Admission of Error: The attending staff immediately blamed the incident on not having an accurate, up-to-the-minute weight, despite the dog having been weighed three days prior at their location. This is an unacceptable excuse for failing to follow the standard humane protocol of ensuring the patient is unconscious before proceeding. The vet was unkind and not compassionate at all. If anything she seemed outright annoyed. The Resulting Trauma: The veterinary team's failure turned an act of love into a moment of horror. My final memory of my dog is not of peace, but of him screaming in fear and looking at me as he suffered. This extreme medical mismanagement has resulted in significant psychological trauma for me and is not an experience any pet owner should ever have to endure. I strongly advise hospital management, including the Chief of Staff and Practice Manager, to immediately investigate their euthanasia protocols, dosing calculations, and training on recognizing effective sedation. The inability to ensure a peaceful passing for an actively suffering animal is a failure of the most basic humane duty of veterinary medicine. I do not recommend this clinic for sensitive procedures where compassionate and precise medical care is paramount.

During my visit on August 11th, I had a very concerning experience. The nurses had significant difficulty administering an injection to my 12-pound dog. After three attempts, one of which even resulted in a broken needle, I was left extremely nervous. This was especially unsettling as my dog was being held still by me and not moving during the procedure. Additionally, the staff seemed unsure how to administer his oral medication. I eventually had to do it myself, which took only a couple of seconds. Unfortunately, the whole situation caused him to become very stressed and cry, something I have never seen from him before. This experience has shaken my confidence in the care provided, and for this reason I no longer wish to keep my membership active. When I tried to cancel the membership they didn’t even apologized and asked me to pay for the price of the services provided in full instead of the membership.

Banfield is a waste of money and trust. Don’t take your dogs here because it is putting them in harms way.
