*Update* Very thankful to hear back from the manager Kat that Banfield will be creating a protocol for senior dogs including checking blood pressure. Looking forward to hearing how these improvements will help other fur parents. I am writing this review to share my profound distress and disappointment with the care — or lack thereof — my dog and I received at your Banfield, and the completely inadequate and insensitive way my concerns were handled afterward. I brought my 16-year-old dog to an emergency appointment at your clinic after she suddenly became extremely lethargic. During the visit, the veterinarian informed me that they could not perform an x-ray due to a lack of available technicians. They prescribed gabapentin, an anti-nausea medication, and an appetite stimulant — without fully warning me about the possible side effects of these medications or the risks given her fragile condition. Critically, no blood pressure measurement was taken. Given that she was visibly frail, had dropped from 12 lbs to 9 lbs in two months, and was acutely lethargic, basic vital signs, including blood pressure, should have been assessed. The veterinarian also failed to communicate the potential seriousness of her condition or provide guidance on when to seek emergency care, such as sharing a list of local 24-hour ER hospitals. Instead, their casual tone led me to believe that there was no urgent cause for alarm or different action. Tragically, within two hours of administering the prescribed medications, my dog rapidly decompensated and could not even stand. In a panic, I had to find emergency care on my own. At the emergency hospital, I learned that her blood pressure was dangerously low — a vital sign that had not even been checked at Banfield. Within an hour, she died. Following this devastating experience, I returned to Banfield seeking some acknowledgment and compassion. Instead, I was met with defensiveness and rudeness by your manager, Kat. Rather than offering a simple “I’m sorry for your loss,” she immediately attempted to shift blame, incorrectly claiming I had refused treatment — when, in fact, I agreed to the x-ray your team suggested but was told it could not be performed due to inadequate staffing. Additionally, Kat stated that Banfield is a “general practice” and does not typically take blood pressure readings — an alarming admission given the seriousness of my dog’s condition. A receptionist had already contradicted this by stating blood pressure is taken if ordered by a doctor. Whether by omission or neglect, this was a serious failure of basic care. At a minimum, I expected your team to: Perform a full assessment including vital signs, especially in an elderly, severely underweight, and acutely lethargic dog. Clearly inform me of the risks associated with prescribed medications such as gabapentin. Warn me about the seriousness of my dog’s condition. Provide a list of local emergency hospitals should her condition worsen. Instead, I was left to watch my beloved dog suffer a traumatic and undignified death, with no real support or guidance from the clinic I trusted. I hope Banfield seriously reflects on this experience and commits to improving the way it handles fragile, elderly pets — and grieving clients. This is not just a matter of “better customer service,” but of basic professional responsibility and human compassion.

Was initially just going to come here for the wellness plan and have a primary care veterinarian elsewhere, but then I met the staff and knew I wanted my dog, Kobe, to get all of his care here. Dr. Natalia, Kaitlyn, Lex, Stephanie, and everyone else were so caring and professional. I just felt it was the right place for us. Thank you all for being so amazing!

This place has been extremely wonderful with my cat. They treat her so lovingly. I really appreciate how kind they are. I was able to get an appointment the next day.
