- ASA SmithFeb 15, 20261.0I normally like this store, but I will not be returning after my last visit. I tried to buy my pets prescription food, like I normally do and have never any issue doing at any Petco. It appears that the rules have changed and now they require you to have a new prescription card after a certain date and go see the vet to get it. I understand the intention behind this is probably good, but generally a new prescription for food is not written every time you see the vet unless requested, and I've been many times since the prescription was written. Additionally, I was not informed of this policy and now my pet has to go without appropriate food and might get sick while I wait for a vet appointment. This policy is unsafe to pets and should come with a notice at the very minimum when a customer is approaching the supposed cut-off date so there is time to go to the vet before the card expires. Ideally, at least 3 months notice should be given to the customer, as it can sometimes take that long to get in with a veterinarian.
