Went to the vet in Escondido - she determined possible cancerous growth and referred me to get an ultrasound test performed off site. The vet hospital was expensive but thoroughly professional, and caring, and heaven forbid came in $238 below the estimate. The cancer was confirmed, but localized to where neutering him would remove all cancerous growths. The vet hospital wanted 4x more than what I was told neutering would cost at Petco, so back to Escondido on the phone. Escondido was fully booked for surgeries through November, but they recommended the Petco in San Marcos as an alternative. Got a next day appt in San Marcos, and they took one look at the vet hospital results, determined he had not eaten long enough to effect surgery and performed his needed surgery right away! They were super kind, caring and awesome - I will now likely get to keep my Rocky for a long and healthy rest of his life! I cannot thank all involved enough to express my gratitude for their kindness, caring and skill - and am incredibly grateful I chose Petco for both my dogs needs!!!

If you need reptiles or reptile supplies go to LLL. The markups here are insane. A small heat pad is like $35 here, got the same one down the street for $20. Even the reptiles at petco are way over priced comparatively.

I do not like being this kind of person but I'm just highly disappointed and there was nowhere to file a complaint for a specific order. I made an order to pickup my cat's food and I made 100% sure to pick the very specific kind that he likes/can eat. I specifically asked for it to NOT be substituted should they not have the correct one. My dad went to pick up the order and I didn't think to ask him to check each can (god forbid). Unfortunately, when I got home and went to feed my cat, I found out it's the food that I went out of my way to avoid. Every single can! I understand the Royal Canin cans all look mostly the same but this was just such an obvious lack of attention to detail that it was just very upsetting. And keep in mind, I would NOT have minded if they were out of stock of the food I needed, that is why I asked for it to NOT be substituted! I regret not going myself in person but I knew I wasn't going to make it in time and I was just trying to make things a little easier on myself and not stress about it, I didn't think it would turn out the way it did.

Original review 10/20 This place is awful for fish. The bettas are suffering from fin rot, and some even have popeye. When I asked the manager if I could purchase a few at a discount to help them recover, she looked me in the eye and insisted they were “healthy.” I was honestly shocked it’s clear the fish aren’t being cared for properly. I want to note that the fish department clerk was very friendly and clearly aware of the issues. He even mentioned how bad the conditions are with the small display cups, which unfortunately isn’t something he can change. However, the manager who seemed more focused on appearances than animal welfare showed no concern at all. She would rather let the fish die than admit there’s a problem. Update (11/3): More fish are visibly rotting and dying in their small cups. I’m sure the manager on duty would still claim they’re “fine.” I’ll happily update this review if they improve the fish department and start providing proper care. Update (11/10) More dead bettas.
