  I was really excited to bring my dog into the vaccine clinic after I had such a wonderful call with one one the employees. I previously took my dog to the vaccine clinic over off of Florin and found the Veterinarian and her assistant to be so helpful, and after my conversation on the phone I was hopeful I might have that same experience at this location and one that was closer to home. I had the first appointment and I showed up 10 minutes early as asked by the site. I made my way to the vaccine area where the employee fumbled to get me checked in. Then as I stood waiting for him to check my dog in the line behind me became 6 dogs deep, and the space crowded. My dog and I both were already nervous, but there was no attempt to efficiently check us in. My dog began to bark and to become reactive. I was open to any direction or help to make things easier. Instead I was asked to step aside into a crowded aisle, and told they would not see my dog. I understood and simply said “okay.” Because the issue here is my dog and I were not set up for success. Because of the poor communication by the employee and the lack of help offered as well as the lack of consideration in spacing animals apart in a crammed setting. It was a sloppy and poorly organized setting and I am happy to take my pet elsewhere for food and vaccines. What a disappointment.

  Unfortunately, they didn't have any availability when we tried to bring my cat here after he started showing some UTI symptoms, so we had to see another vet. The Vetco staff were very helpful in ensuring we got the best food possible but after his UTI symptoms continued, I called and asked what they could do. They offered to get him in to be seen but I explained that we believe stress is playing a role in the situation -- we have two other cats who always respond poorly after he returns from a visit and it always creates a lot of strife, outside of the usual stress of getting into a pet carrier, car, brand new place and then all the way back again. With this in mind I asked if it would be possible to skip the vet visit. We've known about this anxious response in them, keep them indoors and are quick to make a vet visit if needed, but because they hadn't seen him in over a year, they didn't feel comfortable prescribing a new antibiotic or extending the one this other vet had given us after we couldn't see anyone at Vetco. In summary, when we tried to get care from our usual vet at Vetco, they weren't available and suggested we go somewhere else or drive 40-50 minutes to a different location. Then after that new vet provided treatment and prescribed medication, there was no handing back care to Vetco after it didn't seem to be working without a new vet visit, since they hadn't seen him recently enough. I get it, but also, I explained this when we established care initially at Vetco and was told it shouldn't be a problem. This experience has made Vetco feel like a "sometimes" option, instead of actual dedicated veterinary care, which is not what we thought we were getting when we signed up for Petco's pet package. If you're looking for annual exams or care that can be pushed/scheduled way out, this will probably work for you. For anything other than that, Vetco misses the mark for us.
