Staff is extremely helpful and kind. Store is always clean, organized and doesn’t smell like other pet stores do. The variety of choices in dog food especially brands that are not at some pet stores, petco has them and always in stock. 😊

Poor management. The bugs are always dead. There are constantly “Oops!” discount stickers on cartons of fully decaying, stinky crickets. I needed hornworms in a pinch because my online order was delayed, so I came in and most of them were already dead and rotting. I found two containers that each had only 3 live worms each. All the other containers were fully dead or had only 1 alive out of 4.
They’re sold as 4 count for $11 (10.99 on the sticker). That’s about $2.75 per worm. Since each container only had 3 alive, I asked the cashier if she could adjust the price because I was basically buying 6 worms but would be paying for 8. She was really nice and asked the manager. The manager said "k do 10% off."
Simple math says if only 3 out of 4 are alive, that’s 25% missing product. I get if they can’t always do that, but the manager literally saw how many were dead and blank stare thought for half a second and came up with 10% even after the cashier told her dead to live ratio, the 10% discount was manually entered, so it wasn't like a corporate set amount for this scenario, it was on a whim. I've seen the "Oops!" cricket cartons on sale for 60, 70, 80% off.
It rang up at "$11.49 regular price" (even though the sticker said 10.99). After the 10% off, I paid $20.68 pre tax for 6 worms. That’s about $3.50 per worm. I’m paying almost a dollar extra PER worm because their bug inventory is constantly rotten, and the manager doesn't care about customer service or making it right with customers.
This wouldn’t be as frustrating if this wasn’t a constant issue. But when the stock is always rotten and smelly, and then customer service won’t properly adjust pricing when the product is visibly dead and leaking fluid it’s really disappointing.
Cashier was great. Management and bug quality are not. Clean your bug stock and fix your customer service. It's not right to have customers pay ANY amount of money for dead and decaying inventory, and especially not paying EXTRA per living product due to their mismanagement. Gross!

Tried to buy fish, the worker said you cannot pick any one and just take whatever the net get. First time in 25 years hearing something like that. I used to buy fish the ones I select and the guys give me the selected ones. Bad bad service

I spend thousands of dollars monthly at Petco. With the recent changes from plastic bag to paper. I brought in my reusable bag and a rude employee told me I had to put the reusable bag up front . The bag was empty. I won’t be going back to that Petco.
