About 6 weeks later one of them started gaining weight and then she had 4 babies!. We took the other one to the vet and they confirmed he was a male. We had to pay $275 to have him neutered, and still we tried to give the babies for adoption, just to discover all shelters for Guinea pigs in San Diego have hundreds of Guinea pigs already and cannot take any more. Although we do love all 6 of them it is a lot of work and space to take good care of them. If you are thinking of getting Guinea pigs here, please be very careful
