- KCKayla Conley4 days ago1.0I have attempted to purchase Frank the yellow Mbuna lab that is being kept in the bottom of their aquatic plant tank for years now. This fish has been here for over two years and I’m always told that frank is too aggressive to be sold, however the employees never ask what setup I have, or of my ability to care for Frank. They belittle me by saying I couldn’t give frank the attention he needs. I am an avid fish hobbyists with 6 tanks currently. I have both an empty 75 gallon and an over stocked Mbuna tank, for those unaware over stocking greatly limits aggression. My household spends about 6 hours a week doing water changes and fish maintenance. I know we could give frank a better home than he has now, yet I’m never allowed even a conversation. The employees all get incredibly rude when I ask to buy frank and state he’s their mascot. These fish require at minimum 55 gallons and prefer to have a rock hardscape to hide in. Petco is keeping this fish in what I would estimate to be maybe 30 gallons with no hardscape to hide under. I don’t understand why the employees aren’t attempting to rehome Frank, based on my research y’all’s policy is to only refuse sales if the customer can’t or won’t properly care for the pet, that is not the case here. They were even rude to my daughter when she told them it was her birthday all bc we wanted to buy Frank
