Veterinarian availability varies—book an appointment to ensure one is onsite. Clinics provide only routine vaccines and preventive tests. For emergencies, visit the nearest emergency vet hospital.
I took my dog to the Cerritos Vetco for the first time for a vaccine, and the experience was extremely disappointing. None of the staff appeared confident or knowledgeable, and when I asked questions, I only got vague, broad answers I could have easily found online. They also failed to inform me ahead of time that the vaccine would be oral. Because my dog was wearing a muzzle, the vet (Dr. Dylan Johnston) struggled to administer it, and when they finally tried, my dog just spit it all out. I left feeling like I had wasted $60 on a vaccine that never even made it into my dog’s system. The lack of communication, professionalism, and proper administration was very concerning, and I would not recommend this clinic based on my experience.

Terrible experience at Vetco in Cerritos
I brought my 2 cats in for their free exam and the staff was rude and dismissive from the start. One girl working there looked like she didn’t even want to be there, and her attitude showed in the way she spoke to me. They told me they wouldn’t see my cats unless I paid $90 for rabies shots, even though the visit was supposed to be free. On top of that, they refused to see them unless they were in carriers, then pressured me to buy one in-store for $40 or theirs for $45, giving me just 10 minutes to decide. It felt like they cared more about making money than helping my pets.
I ended up leaving and going to Vetco in Lakewood instead, and the difference was huge. Lakewood’s staff was kind, professional, and helpful. They gave me a loaner carrier for free, honored the free exam without forcing me to buy shots, and even recommended affordable carrier options at the adoption center. They clearly cared about my cats’ well-being, unlike Cerritos.
Overall, Vetco Cerritos is unprofessional, money-driven, and unwelcoming. I’ll never go back there — I recommend Lakewood instead if you actually want staff who care about your fur babies.
