  I loved the experience I had at this Banfield as I had worked in the vet field for 9 years before moving back to my hometown and the staff was more than helpful with my two cats and my mom's one cat. The understood the assignment and completed the mission gracefully. The only down side is how expensive owning an animal is in California which is not the staff's fault but wow. Thank you for all the help and love ya'll showed us and we will see you all hopefully for only wellness exam.

  I’m sharing this as a caution for pet owners considering Banfield Pet Hospital in Encinitas. My dog had a routine scheduled visit, and the experience was extremely upsetting. After the appointment, my dog was shaking and showed signs of distress that required additional attention. We also found a wound on her hind leg (. I’m not posting this to argue with anyone—only to encourage owners to be extra careful: ask exactly what will be done and why, confirm what you are consenting to, and request the full medical record and itemized invoice. If your pet reacts badly afterward, seek a second opinion immediately. Still no prompt responsive from this clinic. Just a general comment with reference to support email. I've wrote very detailed emails and left tons of messages.

  Banfield’s Optimum Wellness Plan or OWP is a scam. The manager at the Carlsbad location never told me I was signing a one year commitment for this plan and if I cancel beforehand you have to pay the difference in services or pay out the remainder of the contract. This is my story of the terrible experience I had at Banfield Carlsbad. Poor communication and service. Manager doesn’t care about my dog or the outcome of aftermath of her surgery. It’s a whole money grab corporate bs that they sign you up for so they can make a monthly service plan. I should have paid out of pocket or looking back I should have read the reviews and never step foot into this place. Warning to future clients stay away from Banfield. Daisy’s story of her surgery: My dog underwent surgery on August 29, 2025 for her umbilical hernia and spay. She had a bump form underneath her incision under a week after her procedure. I called in and keep in mind this all happened within two weeks of her surgery and they told me she had to undergo another surgery to fix it. They told me I would have to pay $903.00 for a secondary exploratory surgery of why or what failed in her first surgery. I told them this is ridiculous and they should be paying for it, not me. The vet who performed the surgery said let’s do X-rays instead of a surgery and that’s only cost $388.00. So I either do the surgery for $900 or an xray for $388? I was told two different things by two different vets at the same location. And to my point, this is not covered under my OWP. So my dog has a botched surgery and I’m responsible to pay out of pocket for a second surgery? Read the reviews folks Banfield plans are a scam. I haven’t taken my dog back here cause I’m so unhappy and pissed off with everything that happened.
