I’m giving two stars because we have been coming here for years with our other pets. Years! At least 15 years. I went in around august or September because I was thinking of getting my doggie microchipped, I wanted to bring up a few things since we were already there. His dog trainer asked us to talk to a vet to get him on medication for anxiety. She told us that it would really help him as well. He had been licking his paws from anxiety and he has nervous behavior. Since I was there I also noticed he had an injury on his genital area. I was speaking to the vet about the anxiety Medication and she said yeah well he needs to get trained, the medication can only do so much. And I was like well that’s what I’m saying is that his trainer is the one saying this. We’re actively taking him. Then when she looks at his genital area, she says this comment. And I don’t know if it’s because I’m wearing dodger stuff. But she says well has he been with other dogs( and I express no he isn’t at all) he’s only at home alone with us. Then she says -“well it can be an STD he was born with sometimes when people get dogs from Mexico.. they can be born with an STD”. We got our dog from a family friend. Then I tell her no I don’t think so then she says does he have a lot of moments when he does things to stuff animals or toys. Yeah all the time. Oh it can be an injury from that. —-I’m just like why would you assume we got him from Mexico. Because of his name and my dodger shirt. I don’t know.
I get some medication for his paw his genital area and I go to pay in the front. When this girl is giving me attitude about my next appointment and how I must come in. Being very snappy. And I told them I’m super busy I’m about to take off out of town next week can I email you a picture of his progress, they have let me do that before with small injuries. They told me they would ask the doctor and call me back. I live 30 mins from this location it isn’t an easy drive for my dog. And the injury in my opinion was so small. He was doing fine running around being silly. They also had me pay for another E collar when I told them I already had one. But because I mentioned sometimes he still gets to his paws they gave me the biggest one they can find. It looked ridiculous and he was bumping into everything. It honestly bothered me that here I was paying for this which are not cheap. And I already had one for him. When I got home I was so upset with the comment that vet had made about getting him from Mexico. Why would anyone assume like that. We also never used the E collar that they had us pay for, because that was for a really big dog. I never wanna come back here again! I left so upset. I’ve never been treated that way. Now we got his new shots for the year at a new place by my house and they are so sweet. And make me feel welcomed.

I took my dog to Anaheim Animal Hospital, and I have to say their communication about pricing needs serious improvement. When I called to schedule a consultation, I was given one price over the phone. However, once we arrived, we were quoted a completely different (and much higher) amount.
When people call ahead, it’s usually to check if a service fits within their budget. Being told one thing just to get you in the door, and then being charged something else, feels misleading and unprofessional.
They also offer a “drop-off” service that seems questionable. Not only are you not present to see what they’re doing with your pet, but they also tack on a “hazmat fee” for disposables. On top of that, when we arrived to pick him up, they not only charged us more as I said before but, It feels like they can add charges as they please leaving you with no choice but to pay since your pet has already been seen.
Because of the way they handle their quotes clearly, we couldn’t afford the treatment that ended up being over a thousand dollars and now I have no choice but to pay again to take my dog to another veterinary office. And to make matters worse, they didn’t even offer at least a prescription for pain relief something you would expect just like when a person seeks care while in pain.
Clear and honest communication about costs should be a priority, especially when it comes to caring for our pets that most of the time don’t even have health insurance.
