I have a toy poodle. Her paws are the size of a quarter. To remove the hair in between the paws they charged $50. Mind you, there wasn’t much hair but since she has “seasonal allergies” it was recommended for immediate relief just in case there was something caught in the hair irritating her paws. So a $50 charge even with a pet plan was ridiculous. The plan is already expensive, and the fees increases substantially every year due to “inflation “ as I was told. Honestly debating removing the plan. I’m sure putting the monthly fee aside every month for her yearly survives will come out cheaper than paying for the plan every month

AVOID OPTIMUM WELLNESS PLAN, IT’S A SCAM!!! Banfield is full of incompetent people who clearly should not be allowed to service pets. After visiting 3 locations, undergoing medication, and inquiring about dental health, not one single staff member can give me a consistent answer about anything I ask. The staff gave me a number to cancel my membership, and guess what, they’re closed on the weekends. And you have to pay 75% of the remaining billing plan for their incompetence. Banfield is incredibly predatory and has zero interest in providing optimal care for your pets.

Times are wild when your family is a 20 year patron and DVM at Banfield and you bring your vomiting cat for a quick check up, then you are turned away and told they are appointment only. When you've had a wellness plan for all your animals and they don't even look up your profile and say come back Monday, when there was not a single soul waiting but you. That's a bad look, you should be ashamed and embarrassed. BUT I should have known better when I called a while back and was told 'you just cant use someone else's wellness plan'. Not even a 'good morning' out of the gal with one red eyelash, but its fine. I won't be back, but you will hear from me.

Avoid Banfield Wellness Plans – Poor Care and Billing Trap Our experience with Banfield was incredibly disappointing. After multiple visits, they still struggled to locate basic vaccination records for our dog Ellie. Communication was poor, and we even received inappropriate early-morning contact regarding her care. The most concerning issue was the handling of a lump on Ellie’s side. It was tested at Banfield and ultimately became infected and ruptured at home, forcing us to seek treatment from another veterinarian. We have since moved Ellie’s care to San Tan Valley Animal Hospital, where the difference in professionalism and care has been night and day. On top of the poor care, the Banfield wellness plan operates more like a financing contract than a care plan. Even if you stop using their services, you are still required to continue paying monthly installments until the contract period ends. We would strongly recommend pet owners carefully read the terms before signing up and consider other local veterinary clinics instead.
