I had to have my beloved 17 year old pup, Teddy, put to sleep in an emergency situation. I called this office and spoke to Meghan. When I arrived, Meghan greeted us and showed kindness and compassion at such a difficult time. I cannot thank her enough. I am so grateful that the Phoenix Veterinary Emergency Center was there for us. And thank you for the sympathy card with beautiful messages from the entire office staff. It was greatly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My three year-old 12 pound Havanese ate a grape that I dropped accidentally. The Emergency hotline wanted $110 from me and I didn’t have the money. They were not very friendly or helpful. It was all about getting money from me before they would give me any help. I had called another Emergency animal first and they recommended me calling there. Then I called this company. The man that answered was so pleasant and went and spoke to the doctor and told me not to panic one grape should not hurt my dog of course you read all kinds of stuff on the Internet. Don’t believe what you read always call your Vet for recommendation. This place was not money suckers, but don’t get me wrong. I still have to watch my dog and make sure he’s OK if I have to take him in. I’ll be sure to go there.

We have had some severe issues in the past with emergency vets. Our gorgeous amazing 6 month old Husky unfortunately went through some medical issues. We took Whiskey to this emergency vet with some anger and doubts from our past experiences with emergency vets. The staff here, the nurse, and the doctor all were very understanding and stood by our side and was so unbelievably patient with us even when we weren’t being it with them. The staff here worked tirelessly day and night to find out what was wrong with our boy. They were so understanding and caring. They even set themselves up little seating so they can just sit by his side all night long. They even let us visit him anytime we wanted which no vet has ever let that happen. Unfortunately this morning we had to say goodbye to our Whiskey. The staff here made it the best possible way they could. They let us hold him in our arms and let him pass peacefully in our arms so he was comfortable and happy in his last moments. I just wanna say thank you to Phoenix Vet Emergency Center for being so kind to us and our boy even when we weren’t being the most kind. Thank you staff for keeping him comfortable, giving him pillows and blankets and a stuff animal so he could be comfortable until we made our decision. This visit has really made it a little easier to trust.

This is a very difficult review to write, as we lost our beloved dog, Marty, on 10/24. We brought him in after he suddenly became unresponsive. The front desk staff was extremely kind and took him back right away. However, our experience with the veterinarian was terrible. She showed no compassion and came across as rude when asking questions. It wasn’t just me—my daughter was in the room and my son and his girlfriend were on speakerphone, and we all felt the same. When she left, I told the front desk that the vet’s bedside manner was awful. They mentioned others had said the same thing, describing her as “very direct.” I understand being direct, but when someone is losing a beloved pet, a little compassion goes a long way.

This was my third experience at an emergency vet and my first visit to Phoenix Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center — and it was truly a night and day difference from my past experiences. Other emergency clinics near my home in the Arrowhead area have been disappointing, with long waits, rude staff, and high costs. Even though Phoenix Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center was a bit of a drive, it was absolutely worth it. My dog Coal was seen quickly in October 2025 after having a Shar-Pei fever episode, and the staff got us into an exam room right away so he could relax with his family instead of waiting in a busy lobby. Everyone we interacted with was caring, efficient, and took time to explain what needed to be done and why. This was Coal’s first overnight stay at a clinic, and while I was emotional about leaving him, I felt comforted knowing he was in great hands. Later that evening, when I returned to drop off his regular medication, a kind woman at the front desk offered to take a picture of Coal to show he was comfortable and being cared for — such a thoughtful gesture that meant a lot. The staff kept me updated on his condition, and his stay ended up being less than 24 hours. Both doctors who treated him were patient and knowledgeable, answering all of my questions right away. Staff even sent his paperwork to our regular vet for his follow-up appointment without me having to ask. Coal is now recovering well, and I can’t speak highly enough of this clinic. I’ll be recommending them to anyone who needs compassionate, professional emergency care for their pet. Thank you to the staff for your kindness and care!
